Job summary

EDGE in Abu Dhabi seeks an Assembly Tool Design Engineer to design and support tooling, jigs, fixtures, gauges and production aids for manufacturing. You will create 3D models and 2D drawings in CATIA/SolidWorks/NX/Creo, perform tolerance analyses, and ensure tooling meets quality, safety and cost goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical/aerospace/manufacturing engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of tooling/fixture design or manufacturing engineering experience.
• Proficient in 3D CAD: CATIA V5/V6, Siemens NX, SolidWorks or Creo.
• Ability to create and interpret 2D engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
• Understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Familiarity with tooling, jigs, fixtures, templates, and gauges.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop assembly tools, jigs, fixtures, templates, and gauges to support manufacturing operations.
• Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, NX, Creo).
• Perform tolerance analysis and ensure tooling designs meet requirements.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, production, quality and engineering teams.
• Support new product introduction (NPI) and industrialization activities.
• Prepare engineering documentation, BOMs, and specifications.
• Coordinate with tool manufacturers and suppliers during fabrication and qualification.
• Conduct tooling trials, validation, and acceptance testing.
• Investigate production issues and implement tooling improvements.
• Ensure compliance with company standards and safety regulations.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
• Provide technical support and training to production personnel.
