Science Technician – School Laboratory (Full‑time, UAE National)

Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE

Job Summary: This role supports the smooth delivery of practical science lessons at Bateen World Academy by preparing materials, maintaining laboratory equipment, organising resources, and ensuring health and safety procedures are followed. The technician will help teachers create safe, engaging learning experiences and strengthen student outcomes in an international school environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare science equipment, chemicals, materials, models and resources for practical lessons and demonstrations.
• Support science teachers with laboratory set‑up before lessons and clear‑down after practical activities.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organised and well‑stocked laboratory environment across science teaching areas.
• Check laboratory equipment regularly and report faults, damage, shortages or replacement needs to the relevant staff member.
• Assist with safe storage, handling, labelling and disposal of laboratory materials in line with school procedures.
• Support classroom practical work by helping teachers ensure students use equipment correctly and safely.
• Maintain inventory records for science resources, consumables, apparatus and laboratory supplies.
• Prepare displays, learning materials, experiment trays and classroom resources that support science teaching.
• Follow health and safety procedures for laboratory work, chemical management, risk reduction and student protection.
• Help promote a culture of care, responsibility and safe practice during science activities.
• Work collaboratively with science teachers, curriculum teams, school leaders and operations staff to support lesson delivery.
• Support science enrichment activities, exhibitions, practical projects, school events and student learning initiatives when required.
• Keep laboratory preparation areas secure and ensure equipment is returned, cleaned and stored after use.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct when working around students, staff and school information.
• Stay flexible and willing to support wider school operations where laboratory or technical assistance is needed.
• Follow safeguarding expectations, child protection procedures, UAE education regulations and Aldar Education policies.

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Science, Laboratory Technology, Education or related field preferred.
• Previous experience in a school science laboratory or education environment is an advantage.
• Strong interest in science education, practical learning and student development.
• Good understanding of basic laboratory equipment, preparation routines and safe working practices.
• Organised and detail‑focused with the ability to manage materials, stock and lesson preparation efficiently.
• Able to follow instructions carefully and complete tasks accurately within agreed timelines.
