School Lab Assistant – Science Support in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is an Education Management opportunity for an organized laboratory professional with knowledge of science equipment, chemical handling and practical lesson preparation. LEAMS Education is hiring a responsible candidate to maintain safe and efficient school laboratories while supporting teachers and students during practical science sessions. The role includes preparing materials for experiments, maintaining laboratory equipment, controlling inventory and supporting safe practical learning across science subjects. It also involves maintaining accurate records, following chemical safety procedures and assisting teachers during laboratory sessions. When required, the incumbent may serve as a bus guardian to support student safety, discipline and supervision during school transportation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare chemicals, specimens, apparatus and other materials for science experiments.
- Set up laboratory workstations before practical lessons.
- Assist science teachers during laboratory demonstrations and student experiments.
- Ensure students use laboratory equipment and materials safely.
- Clean, organize and store laboratory equipment after practical sessions.
- Inspect apparatus regularly and report damaged or faulty items.
- Support routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of chemicals, consumables, glassware and scientific instruments.
- Monitor stock levels and submit timely requests for replacement materials.
- Label and store chemicals according to approved safety requirements.
- Maintain safety data sheets and chemical inventory documentation.
- Dispose of laboratory waste according to school procedures and safety standards.
- Ensure laboratory work areas remain clean, secure and ready for teaching.
- Check emergency equipment, first-aid supplies and safety signage regularly.
- Support teachers in enforcing laboratory rules and safe working practices.
- Assist students with the correct handling of apparatus under teacher supervision.
- Prepare materials for examinations, projects and science-related school activities.
- Maintain preparation rooms and laboratory storage areas in an orderly condition.
- Follow school safeguarding, health, safety and environmental procedures.
- Report spills, breakages, hazards or incidents immediately.
- Coordinate with academic and administrative teams regarding laboratory requirements.
- Serve as a bus guardian occasionally when requested by school management.
- Supervise students during boarding, travel and disembarkation when assigned to transport duty.
- Support appropriate student behaviour and report transport concerns promptly.
- Complete additional laboratory or school support duties assigned by management.
Ideal Profile
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Science, Laboratory Technology or a related field.
- Previous experience in a school or educational laboratory environment is preferred.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and chemical handling practices.
- Familiarity with science apparatus, laboratory materials and practical lesson preparation.
- Ability to maintain accurate stock, maintenance and safety records.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with teachers, students and school support teams.
- Careful and responsible approach to handling chemicals and equipment.
- Ability to follow written procedures and safety instructions accurately.
