Role Context

The Lab Technician plays a critical role in ensuring practical learning environments operate smoothly, safely, and efficiently. This position supports science education by preparing experiments, maintaining laboratory resources, managing equipment and stock, and ensuring students and teachers can work in a secure and well-organised academic setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide daily laboratory support across science, ICT, and LEGO laboratories and classrooms
• Prepare lessons by setting up experiments, equipment, tools, chemicals, and teaching resources
• Support teachers during practical lessons and laboratory sessions as required
• Manage laboratory stock levels and ensure all materials are available, safe, and ready for use
• Run experiment trials before classes and demonstrate techniques where necessary
• Set up, issue, retrieve, and safely store laboratory apparatus after lessons
• Maintain and repair laboratory equipment, ICT tools, and LEGO learning resources
• Keep detailed maintenance logs, service records, and inventory reports for all equipment and facilities
• Ensure all health and safety standards and laboratory compliance procedures are followed correctly
• Support students with research projects, practical sessions, and extracurricular science activities

Ideal Profile

• Bachelor's Degree is required
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar laboratory support role
• Previous experience in an education environment is highly desirable
• Experience with US Common Core curriculum is an advantage
• Strong English communication skills both written and verbal
• Excellent interpersonal skills for working with staff and students in a multicultural environment
