Job summary

Role Context

The Project Engineer - Epoxy and Coating Works will take technical and operational ownership of specialized flooring and coating packages from preparation through final inspection. The position requires detailed knowledge of resinous flooring systems, epoxy chemistry, substrate preparation, curing requirements, environmental conditions, and multi-layer application sequences. Working across high‑rise construction environments, the engineer will coordinate coating activities with surrounding civil, architectural, MEP, and finishing trades while ensuring materials, manpower, work fronts, and inspection requirements are available at the correct stage. Accurate planning and quality control will be essential to preventing coating failures, rework, sequencing delays, and premature deterioration.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and sequence epoxy flooring, resinous coating, painting, and specialized surface treatment activities across assigned project areas.
• Develop practical installation schedules for primers, intermediate coats, body coats, toppings, protective finishes, and final applications.
• Coordinate coating works with civil, architectural, MEP, fit‑out, and finishing activities to prevent access conflicts and rework.
• Inspect substrates before application and ensure surfaces meet specified preparation requirements.
• Oversee grinding, cleaning, moisture control, repair, profiling, and other surface preparation processes.
• Verify substrate condition before release for epoxy, resinous flooring, or painting works.
• Monitor environmental conditions including temperature, humidity, ventilation, and moisture levels throughout application and curing cycles.
• Ensure coating materials are mixed, applied, and cured according to manufacturer recommendations and approved technical procedures.
• Coordinate procurement timing and delivery requirements for epoxy, paint, primers, hardeners, aggregates, sealers, and related materials.
• Monitor storage conditions to protect temperature‑sensitive and chemically reactive products.
• Manage site distribution of coating materials while maintaining traceability and minimizing wastage.
• Review technical data sheets, material approvals, method statements, specifications, and application procedures.
• Monitor application thickness, coverage, finish quality, curing intervals, and compliance with approved systems.
• Coordinate inspections with QA/QC teams and ensure work is ready before formal inspection requests are raised.
• Identify coating defects including delamination, blistering, pinholes, cracking, uneven finish, poor adhesion, contamination, or insufficient thickness.
• Coordinate corrective measures and verify satisfactory rectification of non‑conforming work.
• Allocate manpower, applicators, supervisors, equipment, and materials across concurrent work fronts.
• Monitor productivity and adjust resources where necessary to protect project milestones.
• Liaise with HSE teams regarding ventilation, chemical handling, personal protective equipment, flammable materials, and safe application practices.
• Resolve sequencing problems and technical constraints affecting specialized coating activities.
• Maintain daily progress reports, inspection records, material consumption logs, and productivity information.
• Track material usage against planned quantities and identify unusual consumption or wastage.
• Coordinate with site management regarding work‑front readiness, access, protection, and handover requirements.
• Support snagging, corrective works, final inspection, and handover of completed coating and flooring packages.

Ideal Profile

Bachelor 's Degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline. Proven experience delivering painting, epoxy flooring, resinous flooring, and specialized coating packages within construction environments is essential. Candidates should have direct experience working on high‑rise building projects in the UAE. Strong practical understanding of resinous flooring systems, epoxy chemistry, surface preparation, substrate conditions, primers, curing requirements, application thicknesses, and multi‑layer coating sequences is required. The successful candidate should be capable of planning multiple coating work fronts while coordinating manpower, materials, access, inspections, and surrounding construction activities. Experience monitoring temperature, humidity, ventilation, moisture, and other environmental factors affecting coating performance is important. Hands‑on exposure to quality inspections, technical specifications, method statements, material data sheets, application procedures, and defect rectification is expected.
