Job summary

Role Context

The Material Engineer will support Azizi Developments ' Central Technical Office by controlling the technical acceptance and performance of civil construction materials before and during their use on projects. The position connects design requirements, procurement decisions, laboratory testing, site quality control, and construction execution to ensure that only compliant and technically suitable materials are incorporated into permanent works. Working across major Dubai developments, the engineer will also contribute to value engineering, material standardization, quality improvement, and early resolution of technical issues that could affect durability, constructability, cost, or project schedules.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review civil material submittals and verify compliance with approved project specifications, drawings, technical requirements, and applicable standards.
  • Evaluate manufacturers, suppliers, technical data sheets, samples, certificates, test reports, and supporting compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, consultants, and approved laboratories regarding material testing and technical approvals.
  • Inspect construction materials delivered to site and verify conformity with approved submissions and project requirements.
  • Monitor materials used for concrete, reinforcement, masonry, waterproofing, finishes, structural works, and other civil construction applications.
  • Ensure materials incorporated into permanent works meet established quality, durability, safety, and performance requirements.
  • Review laboratory and field test results and identify materials that fail to meet specified acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate corrective actions where material test results, samples, or delivered products are found to be non‑compliant.
  • Maintain organized records of approved materials, technical evaluations, test certificates, laboratory reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Support QA/QC teams in verifying that approved materials are consistently used throughout construction.
  • Monitor material approval status to prevent procurement or construction delays caused by outstanding technical submissions.
  • Coordinate with Procurement teams to ensure technically compliant products are sourced within required project timelines.
  • Work with Design and Construction teams to resolve material-related technical issues and specification conflicts.
  • Review alternative materials and proposed substitutions for technical suitability, compatibility, quality, and project performance.
  • Support value engineering initiatives by identifying material options that improve cost efficiency without reducing required quality or durability.
  • Participate in technical discussions with suppliers, manufacturers, consultants, contractors, and internal engineering teams.
  • Witness material testing and inspections when required by project specifications or quality plans.
  • Verify that material testing methods follow relevant standards and approved project procedures.
  • Track recurring material quality issues and recommend preventive measures or specification improvements.
  • Stay informed about new construction products, testing technologies, materials, and regulatory standards applicable to UAE projects.
  • Provide technical guidance to project teams regarding civil material selection, application, testing, and acceptance requirements.
Ideal Profile

Bachelor 's Degree in Civil Engineering is required. Candidates should have more than 10 years of relevant professional experience within contracting, consultancy, construction supervision, or technical engineering environments. Strong experience in construction material evaluation, technical submittals, testing, approvals, and quality assurance is essential. Previous involvement in residential developments, hospitality projects, high-rise towers, or technically complex construction projects in Dubai is preferred. The successful candidate should have detailed knowledge of civil construction materials, applicable specifications, testing procedures, acceptance criteria, and quality standards. Practical familiarity with concrete, reinforcement, waterproofing systems, masonry products, finishes, structural materials, and related building construction applications will be highly valuable. Experience coordinating with laboratories, consultants, contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, Procurement teams, and QA/QC departments is important. The position requires strong technical judgment and the ability to evaluate materials from both design compliance and construction performance perspectives.
