Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head of Mathematics in improving teaching standards and student outcomes across primary mathematics.
- Provide professional guidance and practical classroom support to Primary Maths Teachers.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, review, and evaluation of the primary mathematics curriculum.
- Ensure curriculum delivery aligns with British curriculum requirements and school expectations.
- Conduct lesson observations and provide clear, constructive feedback to teachers.
- Assist teachers in preparing effective daily lesson plans and selecting suitable instructional strategies.
- Lead and facilitate continuous professional development sessions for mathematics teachers.
- Deliver model lessons and participate in team‑teaching activities when required.
- Support teachers in differentiating lessons for students with varied learning abilities.
- Promote effective approaches to numeracy, mathematical reasoning, problem‑solving, and conceptual understanding.
- Review schemes of work, lesson plans, assessment materials, and classroom resources.
- Monitor student progress and attainment data to identify areas requiring intervention.
- Help teachers use assessment results to improve planning and classroom instruction.
- Coordinate mathematics resources and encourage the use of engaging teaching materials.
- Encourage consistent marking, feedback, assessment, and reporting practices across the primary phase.
- Participate in departmental meetings, moderation activities, curriculum reviews, and improvement planning.
- Support mathematics events, competitions, enrichment activities, and intervention programmes.
- Maintain accurate records related to observations, teacher development, curriculum progress, and departmental targets.
- Perform general teaching and coordination duties required to achieve the department's objectives.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a closely related field.
- Recognized teaching qualification.
- Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience teaching primary mathematics.
- Sound knowledge of British curriculum standards and primary mathematics expectations.
- Previous subject coordination, mentoring, or instructional leadership experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of lesson planning, differentiation, assessment, and curriculum development.
- Experience conducting lesson observations and providing developmental feedback.
- Ability to design and deliver useful professional development sessions.
- Confidence in supporting teachers through coaching, modelling, and team teaching.
- Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
- Ability to interpret attainment and progress data.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
