Role Context
The Pre-Sales Engineer - Technical Estimation will support the Trading Division by reviewing project requirements, calculating material quantities, preparing bills of quantities, and developing accurate technical and commercial quotations. The position connects sales, suppliers, and customers by ensuring product requirements, prices, specifications, and supporting documents are clearly prepared and followed through.
Accurate estimation and timely quotation management will help improve sales conversion, supplier responsiveness, and commercial decision‑making.
Key Responsibilities
- Review customer enquiries, drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.
- Perform quantity take-offs for materials, products, and equipment.
- Prepare accurate bills of quantities based on project requirements.
- Develop technical and commercial quotations for customer review.
- Confirm product specifications, quantities, pricing, delivery periods, and commercial conditions.
- Follow up on submitted quotations and record customer responses.
- Coordinate with sales teams regarding enquiry status and quotation revisions.
- Contact suppliers to obtain prices, technical data, availability, and delivery schedules.
- Compare supplier quotations and identify suitable technical and commercial options.
- Prepare product submittals, compliance statements, data sheets, and supporting technical documents.
- Maintain organized records of enquiries, quotations, supplier offers, and customer correspondence.
- Revise bills of quantities and quotations when project requirements change.
- Assist with product selection and recommend technically suitable alternatives.
- Support the preparation of tender and pre-sales documentation.
- Track pending supplier information and ensure documents are received before submission deadlines.
- Use Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications for calculations, records, and reports.
- Use Outlook for professional communication with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Support AutoCAD drawing review and basic technical coordination when required.
- Maintain accurate quotation logs and provide regular status updates.
- Complete other reasonable pre-sales and trading support duties assigned by management.
Ideal Profile
- Diploma, B.Tech, or Bachelor of Engineering qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics Engineering.
- 0-1 year of relevant experience in technical sales, estimation, trading, engineering support, or procurement.
- Fresh engineering graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Basic understanding of quantity take-offs and bills of quantities.
- Ability to review drawings, specifications, product information, and customer requirements.
- Good numerical and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other MS Office applications.
- AutoCAD knowledge is an advantage.
- Strong attention to technical details, quantities, prices, and documentation.
- Clear communication skills for coordinating with suppliers, customers, and sales teams.
- Organized approach to quotation follow‑up and document management.
- Willingness to learn product specifications, pricing methods, and commercial procedures.
- Ability to manage several enquiries and meet submission deadlines.
