Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, delivery, monitoring, and evaluation of the physical education curriculum.
- Supervise PE teachers and maintain consistent standards across lessons and activities.
- Support teachers with curriculum planning, instructional strategies, assessment, and classroom management.
- Conduct lesson observations and provide practical developmental feedback.
- Develop age‑appropriate programmes that promote fitness, coordination, health education, teamwork, and sports skills.
- Design assessment frameworks to monitor student progress and physical development.
- Review student participation, attainment, and engagement data to identify improvement priorities.
- Coordinate sports schedules, training sessions, tournaments, competitions, and inter‑school events.
- Organise extracurricular clubs, fitness programmes, sports days, and wellness initiatives.
- Ensure sporting activities support inclusion and varied student abilities.
- Mentor PE teachers and deliver professional development to improve instructional quality.
- Promote student‑centred teaching methods and safe participation in physical activities.
- Oversee the inspection, maintenance, and safe use of sports facilities and equipment.
- Identify safety risks and ensure corrective action is completed promptly.
- Maintain compliance with school safeguarding, first aid, risk assessment, and health and safety procedures.
- Manage the PE department budget and monitor expenditure against approved allocations.
- Coordinate equipment procurement, inventory control, maintenance, and resource distribution.
- Work with school leadership to integrate physical education into wider academic and wellbeing priorities.
- Liaise with external sports organisations, coaches, vendors, and competition providers.
- Maintain accurate records of assessments, events, incidents, equipment, budgets, and departmental activities.
- Prepare reports on programme performance, student participation, resource needs, and improvement actions.
- Encourage teamwork, resilience, sportsmanship, discipline, and healthy lifestyle habits across the school.
Ideal Profile
- Master's degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, Education, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of physical education teaching experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in a leadership or coordination role within the United Arab Emirates.
- Strong knowledge of physical education curriculum development and assessment.
- Proven experience supervising teachers and improving programme delivery.
- Ability to manage multiple teams, activities, schedules, and school sites.
- Experience organising tournaments, inter‑school competitions, sports days, and extracurricular programmes.
- Strong understanding of student‑centred physical education and holistic development.
- Knowledge of sports facility safety, equipment management, and risk control.
- Experience managing budgets, procurement, and departmental resources.
- Excellent leadership, communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong planning, organisation, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with school leaders and external partners.
- First Aid and sports coaching certifications are an advantage.
