Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging Secondary PE lessons aligned with school requirements and the National Curriculum for England.
  • Develop students ' physical competence, fitness, movement skills, tactical understanding, sporting confidence, and long-term interest in exercise.
  • Differentiate activities to provide suitable challenge for different ability levels, including students with additional learning or physical needs.
  • Establish clear expectations for participation, behaviour, effort, discipline, and achievement during lessons and sporting activities.
  • Apply varied teaching, coaching, demonstration, and assessment techniques to improve individual and team performance.
  • Promote teamwork, leadership, resilience, fair play, respect, and responsible competition through practical sport.
  • Maintain schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching resources, and progression frameworks across the Secondary phase.
  • Contribute practical ideas and subject expertise to PE curriculum review and departmental development.
  • Conduct examinations and support relevant assessment processes according to school requirements.
  • Assess and record attainment, physical development, and progress using appropriate performance measures.
  • Analyse student performance information to identify strengths, development gaps, and areas requiring intervention.
  • Give timely coaching and constructive feedback that enables students to establish realistic improvement targets.
  • Contribute to reporting, moderation, departmental assessment, and student progress reviews.
  • Coach school teams and prepare athletes for inter-school fixtures, competitions, and tournaments.

Candidates should hold both a bachelor 's and master 's degree in Physical Education, supported by relevant experience teaching or coaching students at Secondary level.
