Role Context
The Mechanical Inspector will work within the project supervision team, providing independent inspection and quality oversight across mechanical building services installed by contractors and subcontractors. The role covers mechanical systems from installation through testing, commissioning, snagging, and handover. By identifying non-compliant works early, verifying approved materials and installation standards, and coordinating closely with engineers and contractors, the inspector will help protect system performance, life safety, quality, and long-term reliability across major residential and high-rise developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect mechanical installations across high-rise towers and residential construction projects.
- Verify that contractor works comply with approved drawings, project specifications, method statements, and applicable quality requirements.
- Inspect HVAC ductwork, equipment installations, supports, insulation, access provisions, and associated mechanical components.
- Monitor chilled water piping systems including routing, supports, valves, fittings, insulation, pressure testing, and equipment connections.
- Inspect fire suppression installations including sprinkler networks, fire pumps, valves, pipework, and related system components.
- Review domestic water supply installations for compliance with approved layouts, materials, pressure requirements, and workmanship standards.
- Inspect soil, waste, vent, stormwater, and drainage systems throughout construction.
- Monitor mechanical interfaces associated with building management systems and confirm that relevant equipment and controls are correctly coordinated.
- Conduct inspections against approved inspection and test plans and applicable project procedures.
- Verify that only approved mechanical materials and equipment are installed on site.
- Review installation readiness before consultant inspections, pressure tests, flushing, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Witness mechanical testing where required and record observations, results, and outstanding corrective actions.
- Identify defective, incomplete, or non-compliant installations and communicate required corrective measures to the contractor.
- Support preparation and closeout of NCRs, site observations, inspection comments, and snagging items.
- Coordinate with Mechanical Engineers, MEP teams, contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and other disciplines where services interfaces occur.
- Check installation clearances, accessibility, maintainability, and coordination with architectural, structural, and electrical works.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, checklists, test documentation, and site quality reports.
- Ensure mechanical works comply with relevant UAE local authority requirements.
- Apply applicable international standards including ASHRAE, NFPA, and UAE Fire and Life Safety Code requirements.
- Participate in site coordination meetings and provide technical inspection input on mechanical quality issues.
- Support final inspections, snagging, de-snagging, testing, commissioning, and project handover activities.
Ideal Profile
- The position requires a Bachelor 's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Candidates should have at least 8 years of practical experience in mechanical inspection, preferably gained within consultant or supervision firms in the UAE.
- Direct experience on high-rise towers and residential building developments is essential, with strong exposure to HVAC, chilled water, plumbing, drainage, fire suppression, and building management systems.
- The successful candidate should be confident interpreting mechanical drawings, specifications, shop drawings, method statements, inspection requests, and technical documentation.
- A strong working knowledge of UAE authority requirements is expected, together with familiarity with ASHRAE, NFPA, UAE Fire and Life Safety Code, and other relevant international mechanical standards.
- Applicants should be capable of identifying installation deficiencies, documenting technical observations clearly, coordinating corrective actions, and maintaining inspection independence within a consultant supervision environment.
