Responsibilities

  • Inspect ongoing civil and structural activities across high-rise tower work areas.
  • Verify work aligns with drawings, specifications, method statements, and project quality requirements.
  • Inspect reinforcement installation including bar size, spacing, lap lengths, anchorage, cover, couplers.
  • Check formwork readiness, dimensions, levels, alignment, supports, and cleanliness before concrete placement.
  • Conduct pre-pour inspections and ensure approvals before concreting.
  • Monitor concrete placement, compaction, finishing, curing, and QC procedures.
  • Review concrete test records and coordinate with project teams on results.
  • Inspect waterproofing systems at basement and podium levels, including surface prep, membrane installation, joints, terminations, protection, and water-tightness.
  • Verify works against approved inspection & test plans and procedures.
  • Raise observations for non-conforming work and support NCR closeouts.
  • Coordinate inspections with contractors, subcontractors, surveyors, engineers and specialist teams.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and supporting quality documentation.
  • Ensure materials used match manufacturer and project requirements.

Role Context

The Civil Inspector will form part of the consultant supervision team responsible for maintaining construction quality across an active high-rise tower development in Dubai. The role requires detailed inspection of structural and civil works, close coordination with Resident Engineers and contractors, and disciplined verification of work before approvals are issued. Particular emphasis will be placed on reinforcement, concrete, and waterproofing activities at basement, podium, and tower levels. Through accurate inspections, documentation, and timely identification of non-compliant work, the Civil Inspector will help reduce defects, protect structural quality, and maintain progress in accordance with the approved construction programme.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect ongoing civil and structural construction activities across high-rise tower work areas.
  • Verify that construction is executed according to approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project quality requirements.
  • Inspect reinforcement installation including bar size, spacing, lap lengths, anchorage, cover, couplers, and structural detailing.
  • Check formwork readiness, dimensions, levels, alignment, supports, and cleanliness before concrete placement.
  • Conduct pre-pour inspections and confirm completion of required approvals before concreting activities proceed.
  • Monitor concrete placement, compaction, finishing, curing, and associated quality control procedures.
  • Review concrete test records and coordinate with project teams where results require technical assessment.
  • Inspect waterproofing systems at basement and podium levels, including surface preparation, membrane installation, joints, terminations, protection, and water-tightness requirements.
  • Verify civil works against approved inspection and test plans and relevant construction procedures.
  • Raise observations where workmanship or materials do not comply with project requirements.
  • Support the review and closeout of NCRs, corrective actions, and site quality observations.
  • Coordinate inspections with contractors, subcontractors, surveyors, engineers, and specialist teams.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, site observations, checklists, and supporting quality documentation.
  • Confirm that approved materials are being used and installed according to manufacturer and project requirements.
  • Monitor construction interfaces that may affect structural integrity, waterproofing performance, or subsequent trades.
  • Escalate significant technical or quality issues to the Resident Engineer or relevant supervision lead.
  • Ensure site activities remain consistent with applicable Dubai Municipality, Trakhees, DMCC, and other relevant authority requirements.
  • Apply applicable international codes of practice when assessing construction quality and compliance.
  • Participate in joint inspections, consultant reviews, and site coordination meetings when required.
  • Support snagging and corrective inspection activities through the relevant stages of project completion.
Ideal Profile

The position requires a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering or an equivalent recognized qualification. Candidates must bring at least 8 years of civil inspection experience gained specifically within consultant or supervision firms. A proven record of working on high-rise tower projects in Dubai is essential, preferably on buildings of G 20 floors or comparable scale and complexity. Strong hands-on experience in reinforcement inspection, concrete works, and structural quality control is required. Candidates should also have practical expertise in waterproofing inspection, particularly across basement and podium structures where water-tightness and detailing are critical.
