Materials Inspector – STP Projects

Overview
This role supports STP developments by ensuring all construction materials, equipment, and installation activities comply with approved specifications, quality standards, and project safety requirements. The Materials Inspector works closely with the Resident Engineer to protect project quality, prevent non-conformities, and ensure successful project delivery from construction through final handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect site conditions before construction starts and verify compatibility with designed permanent works for STP infrastructure.
- Check for obstructions and document existing utilities, equipment, and surrounding assets that may be affected by the works.
- Ensure all existing facilities and utilities are properly protected before construction activities begin.
- Review delivered materials and equipment for compliance with approved submittals, samples, and technical specifications.
- Report any material discrepancies or non‑conformities to the Resident Engineer for immediate action.
- Verify proper storage and handling of critical STP components including valves, piping, pumps, and mechanical equipment.
- Inspect temporary and permanent works to confirm compliance with approved shop drawings, QA and QC standards, and contract requirements.
- Maintain daily inspection logs, material test reports, and progress records according to project procedures.
- Monitor safety compliance and report hazards, unsafe conditions, or site concerns promptly.
- Assist in completed works inspections, punch list preparation, and final quality verification.
- Support testing, commissioning, and handover activities for sewage treatment plant systems.
- Review contractor RFIs and material variance requests with technical recommendations.
- Interpret technical drawings and specifications to ensure proper installation and material compliance on‑site.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in a relevant technical or engineering field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in laboratory materials testing and field inspection of construction materials.
- Strong experience in STP, roads, NDRC, stormwater, sewerage lines, pump stations, and irrigation projects.
- Middle East experience is preferred, especially within UAE infrastructure projects.
- DCL approval is preferred for technical and authority alignment.
- Strong understanding of QA, QC, and material compliance procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in active construction environments with multidisciplinary teams.
