Role Context
The Maintenance Supervisor will take responsibility for the day-to-day reliability of production machinery and essential factory infrastructure supporting fit-out, joinery, and furniture manufacturing activities. The position connects maintenance planning with production requirements, ensuring equipment failures are addressed quickly while scheduled servicing is completed with minimal disruption to output. Beyond responding to breakdowns, the role is expected to improve equipment reliability through preventive and predictive maintenance, recurring fault analysis, spare parts control, and disciplined maintenance documentation. Effective supervision of technicians and strict adherence to safety procedures will be essential to maintaining a productive and safe factory environment.
Key Responsibilities
- * Supervise preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities across factory machinery and supporting infrastructure.
- * Develop and monitor preventive maintenance schedules for production equipment and facility systems.
- * Oversee servicing and repair of CNC machines, cutting equipment, edge-banding machines, sanding equipment, finishing machinery, and other woodworking assets.
- * Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults affecting production equipment.
- * Respond quickly to breakdowns and production emergencies to reduce equipment downtime.
- * Diagnose recurring machinery failures and recommend permanent corrective actions rather than repeated temporary repairs.
- * Coordinate maintenance activities with Production teams so planned interventions do not unnecessarily interrupt manufacturing schedules.
- * Monitor equipment condition and identify machinery requiring overhaul, replacement, or technical upgrades.
- * Maintain detailed records of breakdowns, repairs, maintenance history, spare parts usage, and completed servicing.
- * Coordinate external service providers and specialized technicians for major repairs, calibration, or equipment servicing.
- * Oversee maintenance of electrical systems, lighting, HVAC, plumbing, compressed air networks, and other factory utilities.
- * Conduct routine inspections of workshops, machinery, and facility infrastructure to identify developing faults and safety risks.
- * Ensure workshop equipment and utilities remain operational and suitable for production requirements.
- * Assign daily maintenance tasks to technicians based on production priorities and equipment condition.
- * Provide technical direction when technicians encounter complex mechanical or electrical problems.
- * Monitor maintenance team productivity, workmanship quality, and compliance with established procedures.
- * Ensure technicians use the correct tools, personal protective equipment, and safe maintenance practices.
- * Maintain an appropriate inventory of critical spare parts and identify replenishment requirements before shortages affect equipment availability.
- * Support procurement of technical components, maintenance materials, and replacement parts when required.
- * Read and interpret electrical diagrams, mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and technical documentation during troubleshooting.
- * Ensure machinery guards, emergency stops, interlocks, and safety devices remain functional.
- * Implement lockout and tagout procedures during equipment isolation and repair activities.
- * Conduct or support risk assessments before maintenance work involving hazardous energy or higher-risk equipment.
- * Maintain inspection records, equipment certifications, maintenance logs, and other compliance documentation.
- * Ensure all maintenance activities follow company HSE policies, factory safety procedures, and approved maintenance standards.
- * Track maintenance performance and identify opportunities to improve equipment availability, repair response, and overall factory efficiency.
Ideal Profile
- * Diploma or Bachelor 's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- * 5-8 years of practical maintenance experience in a manufacturing or factory environment.
- * Minimum 2-3 years of experience supervising maintenance technicians or technical teams.
- * Previous exposure to joinery, fit-out, furniture, woodworking, or similar production facilities is strongly preferred.
- * Strong working knowledge of CNC equipment and woodworking machinery.
- * Confident troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- * Experienced in preventive maintenance planning and structured breakdown response.
- * Able to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and technical specifications.
- * Familiar with maintenance documentation, equipment history records, and spare parts control.
- * Practical understanding of HVAC, lighting, plumbing, compressed air, and general factory utilities.
- * Strong awareness of workplace safety, equipment isolation, and lockout-tagout requirements.
- * Able to prioritize urgent breakdowns while maintaining scheduled maintenance commitments.
- * Capable of leading technicians through complex repair work and ensuring tasks are completed correctly.
- * Strong fault-finding and root cause problem-solving skills.
- * Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment where equipment availability directly affects delivery schedules.
- * Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- * Experience with CMMS or ERP maintenance systems is advantageous.
