Job summary

Client of Dr Expat in Abu Dhabi seeks a Consultant Liver Transplant Surgeon to lead complex liver transplant programs and advanced hepatobiliary cases.

You will perform living and deceased donor transplants, supervise multidisciplinary teams, and guide pre- and post-transplant care.

The role requires board certification in General Surgery, a liver transplant fellowship, and at least 10 years post-certification experience; UAE DOH licensure is required.

Qualifications

• American Board or equivalent certification in General Surgery is required.
• Fellowship in Multi-Organ or Liver Transplant Surgery is required.
• Minimum 10 years of post-certification experience in liver transplantation is required.
• Expertise in donor and recipient liver transplantation including living donor procedures.
• Experience in post-transplant immunosuppression and transplant program leadership is required.
• Eligible for DOH Consultant licensure in Abu Dhabi.

Responsibilities

• Perform living donor and deceased donor liver transplant surgeries.
• Manage complex hepatobiliary surgical cases.
• Evaluate transplant candidates and donor suitability.
• Provide pre- and post-transplant patient management.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary transplant teams.
• Lead immunosuppression and long-term transplant follow-up planning.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research and medical education.

Education
