Role Context The Job Scheduler keeps workshop production moving by matching repair requirements with available technicians, production lines, time allowances, and operational priorities. Accurate scheduling directly influences workshop productivity, customer delivery commitments, resource utilization, and profitability. Working closely with the Workshop Controller and management team, the role monitors jobs throughout the repair cycle and helps resolve scheduling issues before they affect quality or completion targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Allocate repair jobs to appropriate production lines and workshop resources according to workload, technician capability, and required completion times.
- Execute assigned scheduling activities in accordance with approved work standards, company procedures, and established operational timelines.
- Coordinate daily workshop activities with the Workshop Controller to maintain an efficient flow of repair work.
- Work with management to plan repair schedules and balance available capacity against incoming service requirements.
- Update Job Scheduling and Progress Control information at regular intervals to maintain visibility of workshop status.
- Track ongoing repair jobs and highlight delays, bottlenecks, resource conflicts, or other issues that could affect promised completion times.
- Support on-time vehicle delivery by ensuring scheduled work progresses according to QMS SOP requirements.
- Maintain accurate electronic or paper records covering completed service work and workshop scheduling activities.
- Follow established repair time standards while supporting productivity and consistent workmanship.
- Stay informed about new automotive technology, updated repair procedures, service methods, and revised labor time standards.
- Coordinate with relevant workshop personnel when job priorities or production requirements change.
- Maintain discipline within the service operation and support a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Apply Al-Futtaim quality procedures and health and safety requirements throughout workshop activities.
- Help prevent unsafe practices and activities that could adversely affect employees, customers, property, or the environment.
- Participate in operational improvement initiatives aimed at increasing productivity, quality, and workshop efficiency.
- Follow up on assigned actions and communicate progress clearly to workshop supervisors and management.
- Undertake additional operational tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor or manager when required to support service delivery.
Ideal Profile
- Degree or Diploma in any relevant field.
- 3-5 years of experience in a reputable automotive workshop in a comparable scheduling, workshop control, body and paint, or service operations position.
- Certified Master Body and Paint Advisor or Technician qualification is preferred for the role.
- Practical understanding of automotive workshop workflows, repair scheduling, job allocation, and production control.
- Ability to coordinate multiple repair jobs while maintaining accurate completion and progress information.
- Strong analytical skills for identifying scheduling conflicts, delays, and resource utilization issues.
- Effective supervisory capability when coordinating technicians and other workshop personnel.
- Confident communication, negotiation, and follow-up skills.
- Fluency in spoken Arabic.
- Comfortable using computers and workshop-related electronic systems.
- Able to work within defined Quality Management System procedures and operational standards.
- Strong awareness of workplace safety, quality requirements, and environmental responsibilities.
