Role Context
The Inspector - Civil Infrastructure Works provides direct site oversight across assigned construction activities, helping ensure that contractor execution matches approved technical and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret contract documents, detailed drawings, technical specifications, and approved construction requirements.
- Review relevant health and safety measures together with subsequent updates issued during project execution.
- Inspect contractor activities to verify compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and contractual standards.
- Observe workmanship, materials, dimensions, and construction methods across assigned work areas.
- Carry out measurements and witness testing where required to verify compliance with technical requirements.
- Track quality assurance progress and confirm that approved site quality procedures are being implemented.
- Maintain daily records of contractor manpower and equipment deployed on site.
- Undertake site supervision and inspections when directed by the Resident Engineer or Assistant Resident Engineer.
- Record contractor personnel, equipment, work locations, observed activities, reasons for activities, and construction methods used.
- Monitor material deliveries and report relevant observations to project leadership.
- Follow and implement site instructions issued by the Resident Engineer, Assistant Resident Engineer, or designated project lead.
- Apply established quality controls and QA/QC procedures consistently throughout assigned inspections.
- Prepare site measurements and surveying checks when requested by project leadership.
- Monitor construction for conformity with required quality, performance, and code requirements.
- Identify defective, incomplete, or non-conforming work and report observations through established project procedures.
- Support follow-up inspections to verify completion of corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate site diaries, inspection notes, measurement records, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate inspection activities with engineers, surveyors, contractors, and other site personnel.
- Monitor health and safety conditions during construction activities.
- Report unsafe practices, hazards, or violations to the appropriate project representative.
- Support quality audits and site reviews by providing accurate inspection records and evidence.
- Assist with verification of completed works for interim acceptance and project closeout.
Ideal Profile
- Relevant professional experience in civil construction inspection, infrastructure supervision, or site quality control.
- Technical education appropriate to civil engineering or construction inspection responsibilities.
- Strong ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documentation.
- Practical understanding of site inspection, measurements, and basic surveying checks.
- Familiarity with construction QA/QC procedures and inspection workflows.
- Experience monitoring contractor manpower, equipment, and daily site progress.
- Ability to identify deviations from approved requirements and report them clearly.
- Strong attention to detail when recording site activities and inspection findings.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements within active construction environments.
- Ability to work under direction from Resident Engineers and Assistant Resident Engineers while managing assigned inspection areas independently.
- Comfortable coordinating with contractors, engineers, surveyors, and multidisciplinary supervision teams.
- Organized approach to site records, inspection reports, material observations, and measurement documentation.
- Experience on roads, utilities, structures, or other infrastructure projects is advantageous.
