Role Context
The Civil Inspector - Roads and Infrastructure will provide day-to-day site supervision across civil and transportation works, helping the Resident Engineer and Assistant Resident Engineer maintain quality, safety, and contractual compliance. The position requires regular field inspections, close coordination with contractors, verification of survey information, monitoring of resources, and careful documentation from construction through testing, commissioning, and final handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Review applicable codes, standards, approved drawings, specifications, and contract documents before and during construction activities.
- Inspect civil, road, infrastructure, and subcontractor works to verify acceptable workmanship and compliance with project requirements.
- Monitor contractor performance and confirm that site activities are carried out safely and in accordance with approved procedures.
- Check equipment settings, installation requirements, alignment, testing, and related technical conditions where applicable.
- Maintain familiarity with current drawings, specifications, safety requirements, and approved project revisions.
- Verify contractor compliance with contractual standards, specifications, inspection requirements, and quality procedures.
- Record daily contractor manpower, equipment deployment, materials, and relevant site resources.
- Carry out site inspections when required by the Resident Engineer or Assistant Resident Engineer.
- Follow up daily with contractor representatives regarding progress, resources, health and safety, equipment, and outstanding site issues.
- Prepare daily reports covering completed works, work orders, material deliveries, inspections, and notable construction activities.
- Implement and track site instructions issued by the Resident Engineer and Assistant Resident Engineer.
- Apply project quality controls and approved QA-QC procedures throughout inspection activities.
- Perform site measurements and surveying checks for pipe alignments, levels, dimensions, and other civil works when requested.
- Coordinate with client representatives during formal site inspections in collaboration with the project supervision team.
- Assist with technical correspondence and site documentation required under the contract.
- Escalate site problems promptly and work with the Resident Engineer or Assistant Resident Engineer to develop practical resolutions.
- Monitor testing, start-up, commissioning, and handover activities for completed works.
- Maintain accurate records of project milestones, materials tests, inspections, and executed works.
- Audit completed activities against contract documents, contractor submissions, and approved plans.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor 's Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in infrastructure or road project inspection.
- At least 3 years of professional experience within the UAE.
- Strong knowledge of local construction practices, codes, authority requirements, and regulations.
- Practical experience reviewing contract documents, detailed drawings, specifications, and approved site procedures.
- Good understanding of civil inspection, quality assurance, and quality control processes.
- Experience performing site measurements, alignment checks, and surveying verification.
- Familiarity with roads, utilities, drainage, pipelines, and associated infrastructure works.
- Strong analytical ability for identifying construction issues and assessing compliance.
- Capable of maintaining detailed and accurate inspection records.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant project management software.
- Strong written communication and report preparation skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced site environment with multiple active construction fronts.
- Organized, detail-focused, and able to coordinate effectively with contractors, engineers, inspectors, and client representatives.
