GEMS Royal Dubai School in Dubai is seeking a dynamic Geography teacher to join our growing team. You will deliver high-quality lessons, inspire curiosity about the world and contribute to the development of geography across the expanding secondary phase.

The successful candidate will hold a recognised teaching qualification and a Geography degree, with secondary experience including GCSE geography, excellent classroom practice, and a collaborative mindset to help grow a thriving department.

Qualifications

  • Recognised teaching qualification and degree in Geography or closely related subject.
  • Experience teaching geography at secondary level, including GCSE Geography and the ambition to grow a department.
  • Proven ability to secure strong student outcomes and engage learners.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging geography lessons aligned with the NCfE, developing students’ understanding of physical and human geography, geographical enquiry, fieldwork, data interpretation and critical thinking, in an international context.
  • Set high expectations for achievement, behaviour and participation, creating a safe, inclusive and purposeful learning environment in which every student can succeed.
  • Use assessment effectively to track progress and provide meaningful feedback, track progress and implement timely intervention.
  • Develop geography curriculum planning, resourcing, assessment and moderation, including fieldwork opportunities and preparation for future GCSE Geography and post-16 pathways as the secondary phase grows.
  • Build strong relationships with students, colleagues and families, working collaboratively and communicating progress clearly.
  • Contribute actively to the wider life and culture of the school through pastoral responsibilities, enrichment, extra-curricular activities and community events.
  • Demonstrate a reflective, solution-focused High-Performance mindset and engage fully in professional learning, coaching, appraisal and quality assurance.
  • Promote and safeguard students’ welfare and personal development, following all school policies, procedures and reporting requirements.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties consistent with the role, as directed by the principal.

Job Purpose

To deliver consistently excellent geography teaching that inspires curiosity about the world, develops students’ understanding of physical and human processes, and secures strong progress for every student. The postholder will contribute to the development of geography across the growing secondary phase and uphold the values, standards and wider strategic vision of GEMS Royal Dubai School.

Key Responsibilities
