Role Context
The Geography Teacher plays an important role in helping students understand the world around them through analytical thinking, environmental awareness, and global perspectives. The position supports student success by delivering high-quality subject teaching, encouraging independent inquiry, and preparing learners for strong examination performance. The teacher also contributes to the wider school mission of developing confident, responsible, and future‑ready individuals. Candidate nationality and gender are open to all.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and academically strong Geography lessons across KS4 and KS5 levels
- Plan differentiated lessons that support diverse learning needs and promote strong student attainment
- Teach physical geography, human geography, environmental systems and global development topics with curriculum accuracy
- Prepare students effectively for internal and external examinations through structured assessment and revision planning
- Foster critical thinking, research skills and independent learning through inquiry‑based classroom practice
- Assess, monitor and report student progress with clear academic tracking and timely intervention
- Create a positive, inclusive and motivating classroom environment that supports student wellbeing
- Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen curriculum delivery and share outstanding teaching practices
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and academic development
- Participate actively in extracurricular programmes, geography trips, school events and wider community initiatives
- Uphold safeguarding standards and act as a role model for the school values of unity, aspiration and integrity
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor of Education or bachelor’s degree with PGCE, PGDE or equivalent teaching qualification
- Proven experience teaching Geography to KS4 and KS5 or equivalent
- Strong understanding of secondary curriculum delivery and examination preparation
- Excellent classroom management and lesson planning abilities
- Reflective and solution‑focused mindset with commitment to continuous improvement
- Creative and enthusiastic teaching approach inside and outside the classroom
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students, parents and colleagues
- Proven record of outstanding teaching and strong student outcomes
