Role Context

The Geography Teacher will help students understand how physical environments, human societies and global systems interact across different places and scales. Teaching will combine substantive geographical knowledge with enquiry, fieldwork, data analysis and critical evaluation, enabling learners to investigate contemporary issues rather than simply memorise locations and terminology. With GEMS Royal Dubai School expanding into Year 10 in September 2027 and subsequently towards Year 13, the postholder will also influence the next stage of Geography provision. Curriculum sequencing, fieldwork design, assessment and preparation for GCSE and future post-16 study will form an important part of this developing responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan fieldwork that allows students to collect, present and evaluate primary evidence.
  • Connect classroom learning with environmental, economic, demographic and urban challenges.
  • Encourage critical examination of sustainability and changing human-environment relationships.
  • Develop students ' ability to construct balanced geographical arguments supported by evidence.
  • Establish ambitious expectations for achievement, behaviour and classroom participation.

  • Ability to teach geographical enquiry and fieldwork effectively.
  • Experience developing students ' map, data interpretation and analytical skills.
  • GCSE Geography teaching experience is highly desirable.
