The Foundation Stage Teacher supports children during an important period of early development by creating purposeful learning experiences that build communication, confidence, independence, creativity, and school readiness. The role requires strong understanding of EYFS principles, effective observation and assessment, and the ability to balance structured teaching with play-based exploration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver age-appropriate Foundation Stage lessons aligned with EYFS expectations.
  • Create engaging learning activities that support early literacy and numeracy.
  • Develop children 's communication, language, listening, and vocabulary skills.
  • Introduce phonics and early reading through structured and interactive activities.
  • Support early mathematical understanding through counting, number recognition, shape, measurement, and practical tasks.
  • Use play-based learning to encourage exploration, creativity, and problem-solving.
  • Promote children 's personal, social, and emotional development.
  • Support physical development through suitable fine and gross motor activities.
  • Establish clear classroom routines that help children develop independence.
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Observe children regularly and document developmental progress.
  • Use assessment information to plan suitable next steps for individual learners.
  • Differentiate activities according to varying levels of readiness and ability.
  • Identify children who may require additional learning or developmental support.
  • Provide appropriate intervention and reinforcement where necessary.
  • Prepare classroom resources, displays, and practical learning materials.
  • Encourage participation through stories, music, movement, art, and role play.
  • Support children 's confidence in communicating with adults and peers.
  • Maintain accurate student records, portfolios, and assessment documentation.
  • Communicate children 's progress with parents and relevant school staff.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and other early years educators.
  • Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development activities.

Ideal Profile

The preferred candidate is a qualified early years educator with practical classroom experience, strong English communication skills, and sound knowledge of the EYFS curriculum.

  • Postgraduate or undergraduate qualification in a relevant field.
  • Academic certificate must be attested in the UAE.
  • B.Ed is mandatory.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in Foundation Stage, KG, or early years teaching.
  • Good knowledge of the EYFS curriculum.
  • Previous British curriculum experience is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of early childhood development.
  • Ability to plan engaging and developmentally appropriate lessons.
  • Good knowledge of phonics and early literacy.
