Job summary

Client of Exceed IT Services seeks an IT Systems Technician to manage incident queues, administer Windows server infrastructure, and oversee lab imaging and asset management across multiple sites. You will coordinate on-site vendor visits, support Microsoft 365 services, and ensure lab readiness with proper licensing and imaging processes.

The role requires strong Windows deployment expertise, Active Directory and Group Policy troubleshooting, and solid networking fundamentals.

Qualifications

• Advanced Windows deployment imaging and troubleshooting.
• Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 administration, patching, backup and restore.
• Active Directory and Group Policy troubleshooting.
• Microsoft 365 - Outlook/Teams/SharePoint support and basic administration.
• Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, Wi‑Fi troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Manage the incident and request queue across the assigned cluster, prioritising by SLA and academic impact.
• Administer local server infrastructure - patching Windows, service health, print servers, file services, local AD replication checks, backup verification.
• Manage the computer lab estate - imaging cycles, software deployment validation, licence compliance checks, lab readiness.
• Coordinate on-site vendor and OEM engineer visits, including access, supervision and sign-off.
• Support examination delivery across multiple sites, including advance readiness checks and standby cover.
• Maintain accurate asset, CMDB and site documentation across all sites in the cluster.
• Manage the local spares position and reconcile with the regional Stores function.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage the incident and request queue across the assigned cluster, prioritising by SLA and academic impact.
• Administer local server infrastructure - patching windows, service health, print servers, file services, local AD replication checks, backup verification.
• Manage the computer lab estate - imaging cycles, software deployment validation, licence compliance checks, lab readiness.
• Coordinate on-site vendor and OEM engineer visits, including access, supervision and sign-off.
• Support the network edge - access switch troubleshooting, access point replacement, port configuration requests, structured cabling.
• Deliver structured handover to the Service Desk and Problem Management on recurring issues across the cluster.
• Support examination delivery across multiple sites, including advance readiness checks and standby cover.
• Maintain accurate asset, CMDB and site documentation across all sites in the cluster.
• Manage the local spares position and reconcile with the regional Stores function.
