Qualifications

  • Professional certifications in feed manufacturing, HACCP, GMP, or feed safety are advantageous.
  • 5–8 years of experience in feed production or livestock nutrition.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Experience in poultry, dairy, cattle, sheep, goat, or integrated livestock operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Feed Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and optimizing all feed production, procurement, storage, quality control, and distribution activities to ensure the availability of high-quality, cost-effective feed for livestock and poultry operations. The role oversees feed mill operations (where applicable), ensures compliance with nutrition standards, food and feed safety regulations, inventory control, and supports animal performance through efficient feed management.

Feed Operations Management
  • Plan and oversee daily feed production, procurement, storage, and distribution activities.
  • Ensure uninterrupted feed availability for all livestock and poultry operations.
  • Develop production schedules based on farm demand and operational priorities.
  • Monitor feed consumption and optimize feed allocation across farms.
Feed Quality & Nutrition
  • Ensure feed formulations comply with nutritional specifications established by the Animal Nutritionist or Technical Team.
  • Monitor the quality of raw materials and finished feed products.
  • Coordinate laboratory testing and quality assurance activities.
  • Investigate and resolve feed quality issues affecting animal performance.
Procurement & Inventory Management
  • Coordinate with the Procurement Department to source quality raw materials and feed additives.
  • Maintain optimum inventory levels while minimizing waste and spoilage.
  • Monitor stock movements, expiry dates, and storage conditions.
  • Conduct regular inventory reconciliations and stock audits.
Feed Mill Operations (if applicable)
  • Supervise feed mill personnel and daily production activities.
  • Ensure production targets are achieved efficiently and safely.
  • Monitor equipment performance and coordinate preventive maintenance.
  • Improve production efficiency and reduce operational downtime.
Cost Control & Performance
  • Monitor feed production and procurement costs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve feed conversion efficiency and reduce wastage.
  • Prepare operational budgets and monitor expenditure.
  • Analyze feed performance and recommend continuous improvements.
Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with feed safety regulations, HACCP, GMP, and biosecurity standards.
  • Maintain proper sanitation of feed production and storage facilities.
  • Ensure safe handling and storage of raw materials and feed ingredients.
  • Lead internal inspections and support regulatory audits.
Skills
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science, Animal Nutrition, Agriculture, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications in Feed Manufacturing, HACCP, GMP, or Feed Safety are advantageous.
