Qualifications

Technical Leadership

• Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for elevated rail structures throughout concept development, detailed design, construction, testing, and commissioning.
• Lead design reviews and technical evaluations for elevated viaducts, guideways, stations, bridge structures, and associated civil works.
• Advise on structural system selection, value engineering, durability, maintainability, and lifecycle optimization.
• Develop and review structural design criteria, specifications, methodologies, and engineering standards.
• Apply extensive structural rail bridge design and construction knowledge to support technically sound project decisions.

Design Management

• Review and approve structural calculations, technical reports, drawings, BIM models, and construction documentation.
• Verify compliance with applicable Eurocodes, AASHTO, AREMA, UIC, EN Standards, BS Standards, and local authority requirements.
• Validate structural analysis models covering static, dynamic, seismic, wind, fatigue, and serviceability assessments.
• Evaluate constructability and erection methodologies for precast segmental and cast-in-situ structures.
• Maintain timely and professional responses to project enquiries from clients and authorities.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients.
• Attend project meetings or events outside normal working hours when required.

Construction Support

• Provide specialist technical guidance during construction and installation.
• Review temporary works, launching methodologies, lifting plans, and construction staging proposals.
• Support resolution of site engineering issues, non-conformance reports, technical queries, and design changes.
• Witness critical construction activities and conduct technical inspections when required.
• Provide structural engineering input to support safe and effective implementation of approved designs.

Multidisciplinary and Stakeholder Coordination

The Elevated Structures Expert will coordinate closely with track, systems, architecture, geotechnical, tunneling, utilities, and operations teams to manage structural interfaces across the rail program. The role also involves direct engagement with clients, independent safety assessors, operators, contractors, and regulatory authorities, including participation in technical workshops, design reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering sessions.

• Support hazard identification, risk assessments, and technical compliance reviews.
