Job summary

Parsons in Dubai is seeking an experienced Assistant Resident Engineer - Viaduct to supervise viaduct construction, elevated structures, and bridge components on a major metro rail project.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in design review and construction supervision of viaducts, bridges, elevated structures, or major infrastructure works.
  • Strong experience supervising erection of beams, columns, supports, foundations, decks, abutments, spans, girders, bearings, expansion joints, and related viaduct components.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Resident Engineer and supervise viaduct works.
  • Coordinate daily activities with engineers, inspectors, surveyors.
  • Assist the Resident Engineer in reviewing shop drawings, design proposals, method statements, technical submissions, and correspondence related to viaduct works.
  • Prepare draft replies, technical comments, and review notes for Resident Engineer approval.
  • Apply strong knowledge of structural engineering principles and construction techniques related to viaducts and elevated metro structures.
  • Coordinate with Parsons design engineers to resolve design-related site issues and technical queries.
  • Maintain daily diaries and review daily reports prepared by inspectors.
  • Monitor construction quality and verify that works comply with approved standards, drawings, specifications, and method statements.
  • Coordinate with contractor engineers on work scheduling, resource allocation, access, sequencing, and site execution requirements.
  • Direct, assist, and monitor the performance of inspectors and surveyors assigned to viaduct works.
  • Convene and chair special meetings with service authorities, contractors, subcontractors, and related parties when required.
  • Ensure site records are accurate, complete, properly organized, and available for review.
  • Support achievement of project safety goals and oversee implementation of safety procedures across assigned work areas.
  • Prepare and assist in preparation of weekly and monthly progress reports.
  • Participate actively in health and safety matters at site as required by the Resident Engineer and project safety representatives.
  • Provide on-site direction and assist the Resident Engineer in issuing site instructions related to viaduct and associated works.
  • Check and measure completed work, maintain progress records, and support reporting of actual progress against programmed work.
  • Verify correctness and completeness of as-built drawings for assigned structural works.
  • Maintain necessary handover records, as-built information, and clearance documentation.
  • Support handing over of structural works to relevant service authorities and assist the contractor in obtaining final clearances.
  • Review material submissions, laboratory reports, technical reports, testing results, and quality documentation for compliance with project specifications.
  • Support acceptance sampling plans, inspection activities, testing coordination, and quality verification for structural materials and viaduct components.
  • Ensure construction methods, work procedures, safety practices, and quality measures remain aligned with project requirements.

Ideal Profile

  • Engineering consultancy experience within the UAE or GCC is an advantage.
  • Ability to review and justify material submissions, technical reports, laboratory results, quality documents, and construction method statements.
  • Working knowledge of construction sequences, industry standard work procedures, inspection requirements, and structural site supervision practices.
  • Capable of reviewing acceptance sampling plans, testing procedures, and quality measures to ensure specification compliance.
  • Fully computer literate with ability to access project data, maintain records, generate reports, and use relevant engineering or construction software.
