Job Overview

The Structural Engineer will oversee all structural engineering activities for the metro rail project during the Design & Build (D&B) phase. Responsibilities include validating the D&B contractor’s design, ensuring compliance with standards, and collaborating with various departments to ensure project success.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Validate the structural design provided by the D&B contractor, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Review structural reports, drawings, and specifications submitted by the contractor.
• Assess structural analysis and recommend design and construction solutions for elevated stations.
• Identify and mitigate structural risks, providing advice on potential issues and opportunities.
• Provide progress reports to clients and stakeholders, highlighting risks and mitigation measures.
• Ensure all structural data is provided to the Contract Administration Senior Manager.
• Support during construction supervision, addressing structural issues as they arise.
• Coordinate with legal, financial, and corporate departments to ensure compliance.
• Prepare and deliver structural presentations as needed.
• Lead coordination meetings to ensure structural obligations are met.
• Monitor and evaluate structural work during construction for adherence to standards.
• Liaise with external consultants, contractors, and authorities to ensure compliance.
• Oversee construction activities, materials, and techniques, maintaining quality standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and project team members on structural topics.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Professional Engineer (PE) status is preferred.

Knowledge and Experience:

• 7-10 years of experience in structural engineering.
• Experience in Project Management Consultancy (PMC) and railway projects is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of structural principles, construction contracts, and standards.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with transportation or rail projects involving multiple contractors is preferred.
• Experience in designing elevated railway/metro station structures.
• Proficiency with structural analysis tools (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD Pro) and steel fabrication processes.
• Experience with steel facade design, integrating architecture and engineering.
• Experience with complex steel structures and facades for large-scale projects, especially in rail sector.
• Knowledge of elevated railway station design in urban/high-traffic environments.
