Job summary

NETS International seeks a hands-on ICT engineer to be the onsite technical lead for a seven-school trust and its Head Office in South Lincolnshire. You will fix problems first time, keep networks and devices healthy, and help staff get the most from technology.

Working with a remote service desk and 24/7 monitoring, you’ll travel across sites, supporting Microsoft 365 Entra ID and Intune, and classroom tech, while ensuring safeguarding and security best practices.

Qualifications

• 2 years in IT support or infrastructure, ideally in an education, MAT or MSP environment.
• Hands-on with managed switches, wireless VLANs, trunking, PoE, SSIDs and DHCP.
• Experience supporting multiple sites and self-managing with strong judgement.
• Excellent communication with non-technical users; full UK driving licence.
• Desirable: experience with Smoothwall, Securly, Lightspeed or similar; Aruba Central or MikroTik; Apple device management; ITIL/SLA familiarity; relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA) or working towards them.

Responsibilities

• Onsite support across the Trust. Provide 1st and 2nd line onsite support across seven primary schools and Head Office on a planned visit rota plus reactive visits for urgent and priority incidents.
• Log update and resolve tickets in the service desk system, working to agreed SLAs and escalating to remote and 3rd line teams where needed.
• Support classroom technology: interactive panels, Promethean, BenQ, Smart, Apple TV, AirPlay visualisers, and audio-visual kit.
• Support staff and pupils with a patient, jargon-free approach, especially headteachers' office teams and classroom staff.
• Networking and connectivity: configure HPE Aruba switching, Aruba CX, and wireless Instant APs, managed via Aruba Central; some TP-Link/Netgear/ZyXEL; manage VLANs, trunking, PoE, SSIDs, guest networks; diagnose WAN issues.
• Devices, cloud and identity: Enrol and manage Windows 11 laptops and iPads via Microsoft Intune Autopilot; manage MFA in Microsoft 365 and Entra ID; support Defender, BitLocker, Teams, OneDrive.
• Security and safeguarding: apply baselines and good practice across networks, devices and accounts; follow KCSIE and GDPR requirements; report risks promptly.
• Projects and improvement: deliver installs and refresh projects; onboarding audits; suggest practical improvements.
• Documentation and communication: keep diagrams, site docs and knowledge articles up to date; provide updates to school leaders; deliver staff training.
