Job summary

Al-Futtaim Automotive in Dubai, UAE, invites an experienced EV Service Technician to join the BYD Aftersales Retail Team. You will diagnose, troubleshoot and repair BYD electric vehicles, focusing on safety, quality and first-time fix rates while maintaining manufacturer standards.

This on-site role offers hands-on work with cutting-edge EV technology and a path to advanced automotive diagnostics. The ideal candidate has a technical diploma and 2–3 years in automotive diagnostics or EV/HEV

Qualifications

• Diploma, ITI, NCVT, ITC or an equivalent technical qualification.
• 2-3 years of experience as an Automotive Technician, Diagnostic Technician, Service Technician, General Repair Technician or EV Technician.
• Practical experience performing vehicle diagnostics, maintenance and repairs.
• Previous experience working with electric or hybrid vehicles is highly preferred.
• EV or High-Voltage certification is considered an advantage.
• Experience using manufacturer diagnostic tools and technical repair manuals.
• Good understanding of automotive electrical, electronic and high-voltage systems.
• Knowledge of electric vehicle battery technology and charging systems is preferred.
• A valid UAE driving license is an advantage.
• Good English communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Electric Vehicle Diagnostics and Troubleshooting.
• Perform technical diagnostics on BYD electric vehicles to identify faults affecting vehicle performance and operation.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, electronic and high-voltage vehicle systems.
• Investigate concerns involving electric vehicle battery systems and related components.
• Use manufacturer diagnostic equipment and technical manuals to identify repair requirements.
• Interpret diagnostic findings and apply appropriate troubleshooting procedures.
• Maintain accuracy when identifying faults and determining the necessary corrective work.
• Vehicle Maintenance and Repair: Carry out scheduled maintenance, servicing and repair activities on BYD electric vehicles.
• Complete repairs according to manufacturer specifications, technical instructions and established workshop procedures.
• Apply appropriate repair methods to electrical, electronic and other automotive systems.
• Focus on completing repairs correctly the first time to reduce repeat work and vehicle downtime.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship throughout servicing and repair activities.
• Support efficient workshop operations through timely and accurate completion of assigned technical work.
• Vehicle Inspection and Technical Reporting: Conduct vehicle inspections to assess condition and identify maintenance or repair requirements.
• Support Electronic Vehicle Check (EVC) reporting by recording relevant inspection findings.
• Use technical information and diagnostic results to support accurate repair decisions.
• Follow established workshop documentation and inspection procedures.
• Communicate relevant technical findings to supervisors and workshop colleagues.
• High-Voltage Safety and Workshop Standards: Follow all applicable electric vehicle high-voltage safety procedures when performing technical work.
• Comply with manufacturer safety guidelines and established workshop operating processes.
• Maintain safe working practices when handling high-voltage vehicle components and systems.
• Follow workplace 5S standards to support an organized, clean and efficient workshop environment.
• Use parts, tools, diagnostic equipment and other workshop resources efficiently.
• Maintain attention to safety, quality and accuracy throughout daily technical activities.
• Teamwork and Technical Development: Work closely with workshop supervisors, technicians and other team members to support efficient service delivery.
• Communicate technical concerns and repair progress clearly to relevant colleagues.
• Contribute to customer satisfaction through reliable workmanship and timely completion of repairs.
• Maintain current knowledge of electric vehicle technology, battery systems and automotive innovations.
• Apply technical learning and manufacturer guidance to ongoing maintenance and diagnostic activities.
• Work independently when appropriate while contributing effectively to the wider workshop team.
