Job Overview
Consultant Gastroenterologist – Arabic – Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This full‑time position requires 5‑7 years of post‑board consultant experience and offers a competitive tax‑free salary range of AED 70,000–90,000.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and treat gastrointestinal disorders including GERD, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, pancreatitis, gastrointestinal bleeding, and related digestive conditions.
- Conduct detailed gastroenterology consultations using medical history, physical examination, symptom assessment, laboratory review, imaging findings, and endoscopic results.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures including upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy.
- Manage inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology cases, including acute digestive complaints, chronic gastrointestinal disorders, liver‑related concerns, and follow‑up care.
- Develop individualized treatment and long‑term management plans based on diagnosis, disease severity, patient risk factors, lifestyle needs, and evidence‑based guidelines.
- Provide specialist care for hepatology cases, including chronic liver disease assessment, liver function monitoring, and referral coordination when advanced care is required.
- Evaluate patients with abdominal pain, reflux symptoms, bowel habit changes, rectal bleeding, anemia linked to gastrointestinal causes, and suspected inflammatory or structural digestive disease.
- Collaborate with surgeons, radiologists, dietitians, oncologists, pathologists, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to support integrated patient care.
- Provide culturally sensitive communication and consultation to Arabic‑speaking patients and families, ensuring diagnosis, treatment options, procedure risks, and follow‑up plans are clearly understood.
- Educate patients on digestive health, preventive screening, diet, lifestyle modification, medication adherence, endoscopy preparation, and warning symptoms requiring urgent medical attention.
- Maintain accurate consultation notes, endoscopy reports, treatment plans, consent documentation, investigation reviews, and follow‑up records in compliance with DOH regulations and hospital policies.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement programs, CME activities, departmental meetings, and service improvement initiatives.
- Support patient safety, infection control, ethical practice, confidentiality, and evidence‑based gastroenterology care in all clinical and procedural activities.
Ideal Profile
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by DOH Abu Dhabi.
- Board Certification, Fellowship, or equivalent specialist qualification in Gastroenterology.
- Valid DOH Consultant License or DOH Eligibility Letter in Gastroenterology.
- Minimum 5‑7 years of post‑board consultant experience in a reputed hospital, specialty clinic, or healthcare institution.
- Strong expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures.
- Fluency in Arabic is mandatory, with English communication skills preferred.
- Proven experience managing GERD, IBS, IBD, hepatology cases, pancreatitis, gastrointestinal bleeding, and complex digestive disorders.
- Experience in hepatology and chronic liver disease management will be an advantage.
- Exposure to advanced endoscopic procedures is preferred.
- Strong patient communication, counseling, clinical judgment, and procedural decision‑making skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary and multicultural healthcare environment.
