Role Context

The Female Consultant Gastroenterologist will provide comprehensive specialist care for patients with digestive, hepatobiliary, pancreatic, and gastrointestinal conditions. The role supports accurate diagnosis, safe procedural care, preventive digestive health education, and evidence-based treatment planning for patients presenting with common and complex gastrointestinal concerns. Working with surgeons, radiologists, dietitians, internal medicine specialists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, the consultant will help improve patient outcomes through coordinated care, clear communication, and high-quality clinical decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage diseases affecting the gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and related digestive organs.
• Assess patients through detailed medical history, physical examination, symptom evaluation, laboratory review, imaging interpretation, and endoscopic findings.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures including gastroscopy, upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, and related procedures within scope of practice.
• Develop individualized treatment plans for patients with digestive disorders, liver disease, pancreatic concerns, gallbladder conditions, reflux symptoms, bowel disorders, and chronic gastrointestinal complaints.
• Monitor patient progress through follow-up consultations, test review, medication adjustment, procedural outcomes, lifestyle guidance, and long‑term care planning.
• Manage common and complex gastroenterology cases including GERD, IBS, IBD, hepatology conditions, abdominal pain, gastrointestinal bleeding risk, and chronic digestive symptoms.
• Collaborate with surgeons, radiologists, dietitians, internal medicine physicians, pathologists, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated patient care.
• Educate patients and families about diagnosis, treatment plans, endoscopy preparation, preventive screening, medication use, diet, lifestyle modification, and warning symptoms.
• Maintain accurate consultation notes, endoscopy reports, consent documentation, treatment plans, investigation reviews, and follow-up records in compliance with DHA regulations and hospital protocols.
• Participate in departmental meetings, clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, continuing medical education programs, and service improvement discussions.
• Supervise junior medical staff and support clinical learning where required.
• Maintain high standards of infection control, patient safety, confidentiality, ethical practice, and evidence‑based gastroenterology care.

Ideal Profile

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by DHA.
• Board Certification, Fellowship, or equivalent specialist qualification in Gastroenterology.
• DHA License or DHA Eligibility Letter as Consultant Gastroenterologist.
• Minimum 5-7 years of post-specialization experience in a reputed hospital, clinic, or healthcare facility.
• Strong expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures.
• Practical experience managing IBS, IBD, GERD, liver diseases, hepatology cases, pancreatic conditions, and general digestive disorders.
• Ability to perform gastroscopy and colonoscopy safely with accurate reporting and appropriate follow‑up planning.
• Fluency in English is required; Arabic or Hindi language skills will be an advantage.
• Strong communication, patient counseling, clinical judgment, and interpersonal skills.
