Job summary

Allocation Assist DMCC is seeking a Female Consultant Gastroenterologist in Abu Dhabi with advanced ERCP expertise to deliver comprehensive GI care within a multidisciplinary team. You will manage hepatobiliary and pancreatic disorders, perform advanced endoscopy, and lead high-quality patient care.

The role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication, and commitment to teaching and research. A supportive environment and access to advanced endoscopy facilities are offered.

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree required.
• Postgraduate qualification in Gastroenterology with GI subspecialty.
• Advanced fellowship or training in ERCP/ Therapeutic Endoscopy is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultant-level assessment and management of GI, hepatobiliary, and pancreatic disorders.
• Perform advanced endoscopic procedures, focusing on ERCP.
• Perform and interpret ERCP-related biliary and pancreatic interventions.
• Perform upper and lower GI endoscopy including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, biopsies, and polypectomy.
• Diagnose and manage GI bleeding, biliary/pancreatic diseases, and complex GI conditions.
• Collaborate with surgeons, radiologists, oncologists, pathologists and other specialists.
• Provide pre-procedure counseling, sedation, infection control, and post-procedure follow-up.
• Contribute to audits, quality improvement, teaching, and research; mentor trainees.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Female Consultant Gastroenterologist with advanced expertise in ERCP to join a leading healthcare organization in Abu Dhabi.The successful candidate will provide comprehensive gastroenterology services with a particular focus on advanced endoscopy and ERCP, managing complex hepatobiliary and pancreatic disorders and working closely with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide consultant-level assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients with gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, and pancreatic disorders.


• Perform advanced endoscopic procedures, with a strong focus on ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography).


• Perform and interpret:Diagnostic and therapeutic ERCPBiliary and pancreatic sphincterotomyBiliary and pancreatic stent placement and removalStone extraction and management of bile duct obstructionManagement of benign and malignant biliary stricturesEndoscopic management of pancreatic duct disorders.


• Perform advanced upper and lower GI endoscopy, including:Gastroscopy / OGDColonoscopyEndoscopic biopsy and polypectomyHemostasis proceduresPEG placement where appropriately trained.


• Diagnose and manage gastrointestinal bleeding, inflammatory bowel disease, liver and biliary disorders, pancreatic disease, and other complex GI conditions.


• Evaluate patients for advanced endoscopic intervention and determine appropriate treatment pathways.


• Participate in multidisciplinary management of complex hepatobiliary, pancreatic, and gastrointestinal cases.


• Collaborate with surgeons, interventional radiologists, oncologists, pathologists, and other specialists.


• Provide appropriate pre-procedure counselling and obtain informed consent.


• Ensure safe sedation, infection control, and adherence to endoscopy safety protocols.


• Manage post-procedure complications and provide appropriate follow-up.


• Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement, research, and continuing medical education.


• Support teaching and mentoring of residents, fellows, and junior medical staff.

Required Qualifications

• MBBS, MBChB, MD, or equivalent medical degree.


• Recognized postgraduate qualification in Gastroenterology / Internal Medicine with Gastroenterology specialization.


• Advanced fellowship or formal training in ERCP / Therapeutic Endoscopy / Interventional Gastroenterology is highly desirable.


• Recognized Board Certification or equivalent specialist qualification.


• Valid UAE professional license or eligibility for licensing in Abu Dhabi.

Experience

• Significant post-specialty experience at Consultant level in Gastroenterology.


• Strong documented experience performing ERCP independently.


• Demonstrated competency in therapeutic ERCP and management of complex biliary and pancreatic conditions.


• Strong experience in diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower GI endoscopy.


• Experience in a tertiary-care hospital or advanced endoscopy centre is preferred.


• Experience managing complex hepatobiliary and pancreatic cases is highly desirable.
