DELANO Dubai is seeking a passionate Commis I – Banquets to support our culinary team on diverse events from intimate gatherings to grand occasions. You will assist with mise en place, prep, plating and buffet setup under the guidance of senior chefs, ensuring high standards of quality and presentation.

Qualifications

• Previous Commis level experience in hotel banquet operations.
• A strong foundation in food preparation and kitchen operations.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an enthusiastic & dedicated Commis I – Banquets to join our culinary team at Delano Dubai.

From intimate celebrations to large events, you’ll support the preparation & delivery of memorable dining experiences. Working alongside experienced chefs, you’ll develop your culinary skills while bringing care, consistency & attention to detail to every dish.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Prepare ingredients & organise mise en place according to banquet menus, event requirements & your section’s instructions.

• Assist with cooking, plating & buffet preparation under the guidance of senior chefs.

• Follow recipes, portion guidelines & presentation standards to maintain consistent food quality.

• Support food preparation for meetings, weddings, receptions & other special events.

• Keep your workstation clean, organised & ready for service.

• Follow food safety, hygiene, temperature control & storage procedures.

• Follow instructions for dietary requirements & allergen handling, checking with senior chefs whenever unsure.

• Label, date & store ingredients correctly, following stock rotation procedures.

• Use ingredients carefully to minimise waste & communicate stock requirements to your supervisor.

• Handle kitchen equipment safely & report maintenance issues promptly.

• Work closely with colleagues to support smooth preparation & timely service.

• Take part in training & apply feedback to develop your skills.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

• Relevant Experience: Previous experience as a Commis I or an experienced Commis II ready for the next step, ideally within hotel banquet operations.

• Culinary Skills: A good foundation in food preparation, cooking techniques & kitchen operations.

• Banqueting Exposure: Experience supporting buffet preparation, plated events or high-volume service is an advantage.

• Attention to Detail: A commitment to following recipes, portion guidelines & presentation standards.

• Organisation & Adaptability: The ability to keep your workstation organised & work calmly during busy service periods.

• Team Spirit: A positive, collaborative approach & willingness to support colleagues.

• Food Safety: An understanding of food hygiene, HACCP principles & allergen awareness.

• Willingness to Learn: An open approach to feedback & enthusiasm for developing your culinary skills.

• Qualifications: A culinary qualification is an advantage.
