Role Summary
As a Civil Engineer, you will support the Resident Engineer in supervising and managing the construction of stormwater drainage networks, microtunneling works, and associated civil structures for AECOM infrastructure projects in Dubai. Your focus will be on ensuring that all construction activities are completed in accordance with contract requirements, approved drawings, project specifications, RTA standards, Dubai Municipality standards, quality procedures, health and safety requirements, and approved project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Resident Engineer in supervising stormwater drainage networks, microtunneling works, and associated civil structures.
- Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with contract requirements, approved drawings, specifications, and project standards.
- Develop and implement QA/QC procedures for stormwater and microtunneling works.
- Prepare, review, and follow inspection and test plans and method statements for assigned civil works.
- Conduct inspections for site installations and follow up to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Monitor and review inspectors' performance to ensure effective site supervision and proper documentation of activities.
- Update and report progress for assigned works to the Resident Engineer or Project Manager for inclusion in project progress reports.
- Support construction supervision for stormwater pipelines, microtunneling activities, chambers, shafts, and related infrastructure elements.
- Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, site teams, and project stakeholders to resolve technical and construction-related issues.
- Verify site works against approved construction sequence, methodology, safety procedures, and quality requirements.
- Review contractor submissions related to assigned civil works, including technical documents, shop drawings, and method statements.
- Support the preparation and verification of site records needed for progress reporting and future as-built documentation.
- Ensure all works follow RTA, Dubai Municipality, and other applicable local authority requirements.
- Maintain strict adherence to HSE standards and safe work practices during site execution.
- Identify quality issues, site constraints, and non-conformances, then support corrective actions to maintain project progress.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams where civil, structural, and infrastructure works interface with other services.
- Support value engineering discussions and technical clarifications when required by the Resident Engineer.
- Help ensure assigned works are completed safely, correctly, and within project schedule objectives.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience in civil engineering site supervision for infrastructure, drainage, stormwater, utilities, or construction projects.
- Practical knowledge of stormwater drainage networks, microtunneling works, and associated civil structures.
- Understanding of QA/QC procedures, inspection and test plans, method statements, and site inspection processes.
- Ability to read and interpret approved drawings, specifications, contract documents, and construction details.
- Familiarity with RTA, Dubai Municipality, and UAE infrastructure project requirements is preferred.
- Ability to monitor site progress, review inspection documentation, and report updates to senior project team members.
- Good coordination skills for working with Resident Engineers, Project Managers, contractors, inspectors, and site teams.
- Strong attention to detail when reviewing site works, quality standards, safety requirements, and construction records.
- Ability to identify technical issues and support practical solutions during project execution.
- Strong communication, reporting, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- UAE infrastructure project experience is an advantage.
