Role Overview
The Butcher will be responsible for cutting, trimming, deboning, grinding, and preparing meats for daily pet-food production batches. This role requires precision, consistency, and adherence to hygiene and food-safety standards.
You will work closely with our operations, quality control, and senior management to ensure every batch meets Paw Revolution’s quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare raw meats (poultry, rabbit, lamb, beef, etc.) for production in line with daily batch plans.
- Perform skilled deboning of poultry and small game (especially rabbit).
- Operate and maintain grinders, mixers, and cutting equipment.
- Measure, portion, and mix meats, organs, and bones as per recipe specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of raw material weights, yields, and batch data.
- Ensure full compliance with food safety and hygiene protocols (HACCP, FEDIAF, ADF standards).
- Maintain clean work areas, sanitize tools and equipment after each use.
- Report any product quality or yield issues to the Production Supervisor or QC.
- Assist in receiving and organizing raw material deliveries when needed.
Skills
Requirements
- Minimum 2–4 years of butchery or meat-processing experience.
- Proven experience deboning poultry and/or rabbit (required).
- Familiarity with grinding, mixing, and portioning meat for batch processing.
- Strong knife skills and equipment handling knowledge.
- Understanding of food hygiene, cross-contamination prevention, and cold-chain handling.
- Ability to work efficiently in a cold-room environment.
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 25 kg.
- Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented.
- Basic English communication skills required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in pet-food manufacturing or meat processing plants.
- Food-safety certification (HACCP Level 2 or above).
- Knowledge of meat yield optimization and carcass utilization.
