Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Receive service and repair orders and review requested work.

The Workshop Supervisor connects Service Advisors, technicians, parts personnel, and customers throughout the repair process. Effective supervision ensures that vehicles move through the workshop without unnecessary delay, repairs are completed correctly, and additional work is explained and approved before execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive service and repair job orders from Service Advisors and review the requested work.
• Assign vehicles to technicians according to workload, technical capability, and promised delivery time.
• Balance workshop loading to maximize available bays, labour hours, and productive capacity.
• Inspect repair requirements and provide technical justification for additional work.
• Prepare accurate labour and parts cost estimates for recommended repairs.
• Coordinate with Service Advisors to obtain customer approval before starting additional work.
• Raise material requisitions for authorized parts and follow up on availability and delivery.
• Keep Service Advisors informed of parts delays, repair progress, and revised completion times.
• Monitor open service orders and work in progress to prevent avoidable delays.
• Ensure completed work is documented and submitted promptly for billing.
• Control vehicle turnaround time and support achievement of promised delivery commitments.
• Track productive efficiency, workshop utilization, revenue, and monthly service targets.
• Improve first-time repair quality and reduce repeat visits or unresolved technical concerns.
• Review customer complaints and lead practical action to restore confidence in the service experience.
• Identify suitable value-added services, tyres, accessories, and maintenance requirements.
• Coach technicians on performance gaps, repair methods, and productivity improvement.
• Develop technician cross-functionality by identifying and addressing skill requirements.
• Communicate daily and weekly performance results to direct reports.
• Ensure workshop procedures, safety requirements, and operating standards are followed.
• Maintain an organized, accountable, and results-focused workshop environment.

Ideal Profile

Candidates should hold a diploma or degree in Automobile Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. Three to seven years of experience as a workshop supervisor within the Automotive industry is required, preferably in an authorized dealership environment.
