Overview
The Workshop Supervisor - Heavy Trucks will oversee day‑to‑day workshop performance for heavy‑duty commercial vehicles within Al‑Futtaim Automotive’s Aftersales Commercial Vehicles division. The role requires hands‑on supervision of technicians, effective workload planning, workshop bay utilisation, warranty process control, and consistent delivery of Fix It Right First Time standards.
The successful candidate will work closely with Aftersales Managers, Service Advisors, technicians and operational teams to maximise vehicle uptime, strengthen service quality and support business performance in Dubai’s competitive commercial vehicle market.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily workshop operations for heavy‑duty trucks, commercial vehicles and related aftersales repair activities.
- Supervise technicians, allocate work efficiently and ensure workshop bays are used productively.
- Drive workshop performance by improving utilisation, productivity, efficiency, sold hours and overall repair output.
- Ensure all repair jobs follow Fix It Right First Time standards, OEM procedures and internal quality guidelines.
- Monitor job progress, identify delays and support on‑time vehicle delivery to customers.
- Coordinate with Service Advisors and Aftersales Managers to manage customer expectations and workshop priorities.
- Support aftersales revenue growth through effective labour planning, capacity utilisation and operational control.
- Oversee warranty repairs, technical documentation and compliance with manufacturer standards.
- Review workshop KPIs and take corrective action to improve quality, productivity, efficiency and team performance.
- Manage tools, workshop equipment, service materials and inventory readiness to avoid operational delays.
- Coach, guide and develop technicians to improve technical capability, work discipline and service standards.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, housekeeping and operational procedures across the workshop.
- Resolve technical and operational challenges quickly to reduce downtime and improve customer satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate workshop records, job status updates, service documentation and reporting requirements.
- Promote a performance‑driven workshop culture focused on teamwork, accountability, safety and service excellence.
Ideal Profile
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Automobile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience within automotive dealership operations.
- At least 5 years of experience in workshop supervision, workshop management or a similar leadership role.
- Strong hands‑on experience managing heavy‑duty truck workshop operations.
- Solid understanding of commercial vehicle repair, maintenance, diagnostics, service processes and workshop workflows.
- Proven ability to improve technician productivity, workshop efficiency, sold hours and operational performance.
- Strong knowledge of dealership processes, OEM standards, warranty procedures and aftersales KPIs.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, high‑volume commercial vehicle workshop.
- Strong leadership, coaching, communication and people‑management skills.
- Good commercial awareness with the ability to support revenue growth and cost‑effective workshop operations.
- Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making skills with a practical approach to technical and operational issues.
- Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems, workshop management systems and service reporting tools.
