Key Responsibilities
- Use approved purchasing and materials management systems to source, buy, and administer procured goods and services.
- Convert authorized purchase requisitions into purchase orders by following established procurement workflows.
- Apply standard purchase order terms, commercial conditions, approval requirements, and company policies.
- Maintain complete and accurate records of materials and services ordered, received, changed, or cancelled.
- Submit prospective suppliers for registration, screening, and qualification.
- Coordinate with senior procurement team members, category managers, and business stakeholders to identify suitable suppliers for sourcing events.
- Issue routine requests for quotations and collect supplier offers within the required procurement timeline.
- Prepare commercial bid analyses and document recommendations for contract or purchase order awards.
- Compare supplier pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, commercial exceptions, and other relevant conditions.
- Support supplier negotiations within assigned authority and escalate higher‑value or complex matters to senior procurement personnel.
- Represent McDermott and its clients professionally during routine supplier discussions and commercial correspondence.
- Assist with the development and administration of supplier agreements supporting integrated procurement operations.
- Work with expeditors and other supply chain colleagues to resolve changes involving delivery dates, quantities, documentation, or vendor commitments.
- Coordinate with suppliers to address incomplete quotations, order acknowledgements, shipment information, and commercial documentation.
- Review purchase order amendments and ensure approved vendor changes are recorded correctly.
- Prepare reports concerning market conditions, supplier availability, pricing movements, and merchandise costs.
- Support internal stakeholders by communicating procurement requirements, commercial solutions, and sourcing procedures clearly.
- Help resolve routine vendor and contractor claims involving suppliers.
- Refer contractual disputes, material commercial risks, and nonstandard supplier conditions to senior team members.
- Maintain procurement documentation for audit, reporting, project controls, and operational reference.
- Follow local and regional logistics regulations, trade requirements, and applicable supplier agreements.
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, logistics, finance, accounts payable, and materials management teams.
- Monitor assigned purchasing activities and highlight potential delivery, cost, supplier, or documentation risks.
- Protect confidential supplier information, pricing data, commercial evaluations, and company records.
- Contribute to process improvement activities designed to increase procurement efficiency and transaction accuracy.
Ideal Profile
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, or another relevant discipline.
- High school diploma, GED, or IGCSE may be considered with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
- 0-3 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, sourcing, supply chain, logistics, or commercial operations.
- Broad understanding of procurement processes, including requisitions, purchase orders, supplier quotations, and commercial evaluations.
- Ability to communicate purchasing concepts and commercial recommendations to procurement and non‑procurement stakeholders.
- Confidence working with suppliers, internal departments, category managers, and international procurement teams.
- Basic knowledge of supplier agreements, purchasing terms, delivery conditions, and vendor administration.
- Understanding of local and regional logistics regulations and operating requirements.
- Strong attention to detail when reviewing prices, quantities, delivery dates, commercial terms, and supporting documents.
- Ability to follow structured procedures while managing several routine purchasing transactions.
- Comfortable seeking guidance from senior colleagues when assignments involve nonstandard terms, contractual risk, or higher‑value commitments.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Organized approach to document control, record maintenance, reporting, and follow‑up activities.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
- Experience using SmartPlant Materials or a comparable materials management platform is advantageous.
- Familiarity with HR systems or integrated enterprise applications is beneficial.
- Process improvement or Six Sigma certification will be considered an advantage.
