Associate Field Engineer – EPCI Projects in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is an Oil and Energy engineering opportunity supporting field execution, construction monitoring, technical coordination, quality control, and commissioning readiness. McDermott International, Ltd is hiring an engineer with practical EPCI experience who can inspect site activities, resolve routine technical issues, prepare accurate progress reports, and help projects meet approved safety, quality, cost, and schedule objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with field engineering activities across engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning projects.
  • Confirm that site work follows approved drawings, technical specifications, work procedures, and applicable industry standards.
  • Conduct regular field inspections to monitor construction progress, installation quality, and work‑front readiness.
  • Identify deviations from engineering design, approved methods, or project requirements and report them promptly.
  • Support the preparation and implementation of corrective actions for routine construction and technical issues.
  • Coordinate with project managers, discipline engineers, supervisors, contractors, quality personnel, and subcontractors.
  • Clarify engineering requirements for construction teams and help resolve questions arising during site execution.
  • Review technical drawings, specifications, material information, and construction documentation before field activities begin.
  • Compare completed work against design requirements and highlight discrepancies requiring engineering review.
  • Prepare clear site progress reports, technical evaluations, field observations, and quality control assessments.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, technical queries, construction constraints, and agreed corrective actions.
  • Contribute to project execution plans covering engineering deliverables, construction sequencing, milestones, and commissioning activities.
  • Support short‑term work planning by identifying technical dependencies, incomplete information, and site access constraints.
  • Assist in resolving field challenges by evaluating available information and recommending practical engineering solutions.
  • Escalate complex technical problems to the appropriate discipline engineer, project manager, or technical authority.
  • Participate in coordination meetings and communicate field priorities, emerging risks, and unresolved interfaces.
  • Support inspections, testing, mechanical completion, system handover, and commissioning preparation when assigned.
  • Assist quality teams with verification activities and confirm that required inspection documentation is available.
  • Follow all company health, safety, and environmental policies during office, yard, and construction site activities.
  • Promote safe working practices and environmental awareness among project teams and subcontractors.
  • Confirm that field activities comply with permits, approved risk controls, and project‑specific HSE requirements.
  • Apply relevant regulations, engineering codes, construction standards, and internal quality management procedures.
  • Provide technical assistance to internal departments, contractors, customers, and other project stakeholders.
  • Respond to routine technical inquiries and communicate engineering information in a clear and practical manner.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify work processes, improve productivity, reduce avoidable costs, and strengthen project execution.
  • Support continuous improvement by documenting recurring issues, effective solutions, and lessons learned.
  • Use engineering software and digital tools to review drawings, prepare technical information, and maintain project records.
  • Organize assigned activities according to project priorities and complete tasks within agreed deadlines.
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in the EPCI industry.
  • Practical familiarity with engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning workflows.
  • Experience supporting construction sites, fabrication yards, industrial facilities, or energy projects.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, work procedures, and project documentation.
  • Working knowledge of construction monitoring, field inspection, quality control, and technical reporting.
  • Familiarity with engineering software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or comparable design and drawing tools.
  • Understanding of engineering principles and the relationship between design intent and field installation.
  • Knowledge of relevant EPCI codes, standards, quality requirements, and construction practices.
  • Strong analytical skills for reviewing site conditions and identifying practical solutions.
  • Ability to recognize design deviations, technical risks, and incomplete project information.
