Qualifications

• 15-20 years of experience as a Piping Engineer within oil and gas projects, preferably with a major EPC contractor.
• Proven background in Conceptual, Pre-FEED, FEED, and detailed design phases.
• Previous Lead Piping Engineer experience on FEED and EPC projects using multi-office project execution models.
• Strong understanding of piping design methods, piping material engineering, pipe stress and support requirements, MTO activities, and discipline deliverables.
• Detailed knowledge of international codes and standards such as ANSI, ASME, API, BS, and NFPA.
• Familiarity with SP3D, E3D, Navisworks, 3D model review processes, stick-built execution, and modularization approaches.
• Strong project coordination, resource planning, technical leadership, and engineering execution skills.
• Ability to explain complex engineering concepts, negotiate technical viewpoints, and guide teams toward practical solutions.
• Preferably registered as a Professional Engineer or affiliated with a recognized professional engineering society.
• Understanding of commercial project aspects, contract types, project budgets, and discipline cost control.
• Flexible for business travel when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform conceptual design, Pre-FEED, FEED, and detailed piping engineering analysis in line with project scope, design basis, codes, standards, and McDermott procedures.
• Prepare detailed design calculations, engineering reports, piping procedures, specifications, material requisitions, and technical documentation.
• Resolve complex piping engineering challenges using specialist knowledge of piping systems, piping materials, pipe supports, MTO activities, and project execution requirements.
• Review project scope, specifications, schedules, discipline deliverables, inter-discipline requirements, and engineering execution plans.
• Lead medium to large engineering and design teams when assigned as Lead Engineer or Area Lead.
• Plan, organize, and direct discipline execution, including scope control, deliverables, schedules, manpower forecasts, and productivity monitoring.
• Provide piping input for project execution plans, Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4 schedules, discipline forecasts, and change notifications.
• Check and approve design philosophies, standard detail drawings, pipe support documents, MTOs, and piping material requisitions.
• Support 3D model reviews at 30 percent, 60 percent, and 90 percent progress using project design review tools.
• Coordinate with engineering disciplines, designers, project management, procurement, document control, cost control, planning, construction, fabrication teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
• Interface with High-Value Engineering Centers to ensure proper understanding of scope, deliverables, and schedule expectations.
• Represent the piping discipline in meetings with clients, certifying authorities, auditors, third parties, and internal project teams.
• Monitor discipline KPIs, identify deviations from scope, recommend corrective actions, and support change order requirements where needed.
• Lead piping discipline participation in internal and external audits.
• Support proposals, studies, project planning activities, and performance evaluation inputs for piping team members.
