Role Overview

Principal Marine Operations Specialist – Offshore in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is a senior Oil and Energy hiring opportunity for an experienced marine operations and field engineering professional with strong EPCI project execution, offshore installation, engineering coordination, and client-facing technical leadership expertise. This role is suited for a specialist who can guide complex offshore engineering activities, support safe marine project delivery, and lead technical teams across installation, construction, procurement, and project execution phases.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and supervise field engineers and senior field engineers to support effective execution of offshore installation and marine operations projects.
Provide technical direction, coaching, and practical engineering guidance to project teams working across complex EPCI environments.
Ensure engineering activities comply with project specifications, industry standards, client requirements, safety expectations, and offshore best practices.
Coordinate with procurement, construction, installation, marine operations, and project management teams to keep engineering work aligned with execution schedules.
Visit project sites and offshore work areas when required to review progress, resolve technical issues, and support quality control.
Develop engineering solutions that improve constructability, installation feasibility, operational safety, and project delivery performance.
Review engineering systems, field procedures, drawings, project documents, and installation plans to confirm accuracy, efficiency, and technical suitability.
Identify technical risks, interface issues, design constraints, and field execution challenges before they affect project milestones.
Recommend practical improvements to reduce project risk, strengthen engineering quality, and improve offshore delivery outcomes.
Apply current offshore engineering practices, marine installation methods, and relevant technology trends to improve work processes.
Act as a trusted technical contact for clients during project execution, helping clarify requirements and resolve engineering concerns.
Build strong working relationships with clients, contractors, internal teams, and project stakeholders through clear communication and reliable technical support.
Communicate project risks, opportunities, and technical recommendations in a timely and structured manner.
Support a culture of safety, accountability, technical excellence, and client-focused project delivery.

Ideal Profile

Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
Master's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline is preferred.
10 to 14 years of experience in the oil and gas industry with major contractors, EPCI companies, or engineering consultants.
Proven background in EPCI project environments, with strong exposure to engineering functions, field engineering, offshore works, or marine operations.
Experience on offshore projects will be highly valued.
Strong technical understanding of offshore installation, field engineering coordination, marine construction interfaces, and project execution requirements.
Ability to lead engineering teams, guide senior technical staff, and support project objectives under demanding schedules.
Strong analytical thinking with the ability to solve complex technical problems using sound engineering judgment.
Confident communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, project managers, engineers, construction teams, and stakeholders.
Capable of managing several priorities at the same time in a fast-moving project environment.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of AutoCAD is required.
Familiarity with engineering tools, offshore standards, project documentation, and industry-standard methodologies will support success in this role.
