Job summary

AECOM in Abu Dhabi is seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Resident Engineer to support the Resident Engineer and project team on major construction works, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, contractual obligations, and quality standards. You will coordinate between contractors and design offices, maintain site documentation, and contribute to QA/QC, safety, and environmental practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural/Geotechnical engineering or equivalent.
• 2 years post-degree civil/structural site experience, or 5 years after higher diploma.
• Experience with superstructure works, civil drainage, and site formation.
• Strong knowledge of construction compliance and regulatory standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Resident Engineer with statutory duties and TCP requirements.
• Conduct on-site inspections to verify compliance with plans and safety protocols.
• Review contractor sequences, temporary works, and late-cast openings.
• Monitor and support the contractor's TCPs, ensuring adherence to standards.
• Act as liaison between contractor, site team, and design office for issue resolution.
• Identify and document non-conformities; escalate to the Resident Engineer.
• Contribute to QA/QC, site safety, and environmental management practices.
• Prepare site reports, inspection records, defect reports, and QA/QC docs.
• Attend site progress and QA/QC meetings; support collaborative problem-solving.
