Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Civil Site Inspector in Abu Dhabi, UAE to support infrastructure projects through continuous site inspection, quality monitoring, testing, and construction documentation.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 8-10 years of experience as a Civil Inspector on major infrastructure projects.
• Experience with roads, utilities, drainage, earthworks, public realm, and associated civil infrastructure works.
• Experience with UAE authority specifications and inspection procedures is highly desirable.
• Testing, commissioning, and project handover experience is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of civil construction practices, QA/QC procedures, Inspection and Test Plans, and international construction standards.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, shop drawings, construction details, and technical specifications.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction inspection documentation.
• Familiarity with document management systems such as Asite is an advantage.
• Strong inspection and observation skills with close attention to construction quality.
• Good communication and teamwork capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary project environment.
• Organized and proactive approach to quality, safety, documentation, and timely project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Inspect daily civil construction activities for compliance with approved drawings, technical specifications, and contractual requirements.
• Monitor contractor workmanship and verify compliance with approved Method Statements and Inspection and Test Plans.
• Identify and report non-conforming works and monitor implementation of required corrective actions.
• Verify completed construction works before inspection approval.
• Report significant inspection findings to the Assistant Resident Engineer and Resident Engineer.
• Inspect roads, pavements, kerbs, footpaths, cycle tracks, earthworks, utility trenches, drainage systems, chambers, manholes, retaining structures, and public realm works.
• Verify construction setting out, dimensions, levels, lines, grades, compaction, and workmanship.
• Confirm that construction activities follow approved details and applicable authority requirements.
• Monitor interfaces between civil works, utilities, drainage, roads, and other infrastructure components.
• Witness field and laboratory testing for earthworks, concrete, asphalt, backfilling, and compaction.
• Verify that approved construction materials are used on site.
• Review Work Inspection Requests and Material Inspection Requests.
• Monitor implementation of relevant QA/QC procedures and inspection requirements.
• Ensure inspection and testing records are properly maintained and traceable.
• Monitor contractor compliance with approved health, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Report unsafe practices and support implementation of corrective measures.
• Promote safe construction practices during site inspection activities.
• Prepare daily inspection reports and maintain accurate site records.
• Record construction progress, quality observations, non-conformances, and other relevant site issues.
• Support maintenance of as-built records and construction documentation.
• Maintain inspection evidence and records required for quality verification and project closeout.
• Participate in snagging and de-snagging activities.
• Support testing and commissioning inspections where applicable.
• Verify completion of construction works before handover.
• Assist with final inspection records and asset handover documentation.
