Job summary

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of infrastructure development, construction methodologies and quality control.

Responsibilities

• Inspect workmanship and materials for conformance with project requirements.
• Coordinate vertical and horizontal controls required for the works.
• Perform layout checks covering lines and grades.
• Coordinate construction activities with relevant project parties.
• Maintain project records using designated forms, including reports covering workforce, equipment, progress and safety.
• Review and approve shop drawings within the responsibilities of the role.
• Coordinate, execute and interpret soils and materials testing in accordance with Contract Documents and Specifications.
• Review and approve final materials submittals.
• Check and certify construction progress payments.
• Review personnel, equipment and material costs associated with Variation Orders and Change Orders.
• Assess requests for additional compensation and extensions of time.
• Prepare Variation Orders covering additional and new works.
• Prepare the Monthly Report.
• Monitor site safety activities, meetings, reviews, violations, corrective measures and accident reporting for inclusion in the Monthly Progress Report.
• Determine appropriate costs for additions or credits when required and recommend suitable action.
• Inspect site safety conditions, communicate construction safety violations and follow up on required corrective actions.

Construction and Contract Oversight

This position combines technical site supervision with contract administration and project controls responsibilities. The Resident Engineer will monitor construction quality and progress while reviewing materials, shop drawings, testing results, variations, payment certification, time-extension requests and other contractual matters within the assigned scope.

Safety and Quality

Site safety and construction quality form an integral part of the assignment. The Resident Engineer will monitor safety conditions, document relevant activities and violations, follow up on corrective measures and maintain appropriate reporting while ensuring construction materials and workmanship comply with project requirements.
