Job summary

The University of Sharjah is seeking an Accountant - Accounts Payable to manage payments, verify invoices, and reconcile supplier ledgers. You will ensure timely processing of the full payables cycle and support financial decision-making with accurate data.

Responsibilities include coordinating with departments and vendors, maintaining ledgers, and ensuring compliance with internal procedures. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 4–6 years UAE experience are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Professional qualification as chartered accountant or equivalent is desirable.
• 4–6 years of UAE experience in a similar role, preferably in higher education.

Responsibilities

• Review and verify invoices and expense reports; allocate to correct accounts.
• Match purchase orders to invoices and enter into the financial system.
• Process payments and maintain timely payments to vendors.
• Reconcile accounts payable transactions and monitor balances.
• Maintain ledgers and post transactions to journals and ledgers.
• Prepare timely reports and assist in KPI achievement for the department.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and university bylaws.
