Job summary
A design firm in Gauteng is seeking an Interior Design Assistant to support the design team in creating functional spaces. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design and organizational skills to manage multiple projects. Responsibilities include room documentation, furniture modeling, source materials, and assist in presentations. This role offers an opportunity to develop skills in fast-paced design environments while staying current with design trends.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in interior design or a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies.
Responsibilities
- Measuring and documenting rooms, drawing and modelling spaces.
- Modelling furniture and cabinetry for manufacturing.
- Compiling quotations and sourcing materials for projects.
- Creating technical documentation for manufacture.
- Maintaining project files and documentation.
- Assisting in presentations, mood and sample boards.
- Collaborating with the design team for timely project completion.
- Content creation for social media.
- Staying informed about the latest design trends.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for design, excellent organizational skills, and a strong eye for aesthetics. This position will involve working closely with the designer to assist in design and implementation of projects.
- Measuring and documenting rooms, then drawing and modelling the spaces in our software
- Modelling furniture and cabinetry pieces for manufacturing purposes
- Compiling quotations
- Source materials, furniture, and accessories for projects
- Completing technical documentation for manufacture
- Maintain project files and documentation
- Assist in creating presentations, mood and sample boards for client meetings
- Collaborate with the design team to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
- Content creation for the company’s social media
- Stay informed about the latest design trends and products in the industry
- Bachelors degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or Design or related field
- Previous experience in interior design or a related field is preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- A keen eye for detail and a passion for design
- Knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies
