Mama Money is a growth stage fintech startup working to help migrant workers in South Africa send money home. Since 2015 we have been providing reliable remittances, at a socially fair price, to those that need it most.

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to help us automate all the things and ensure stability across all of our systems to join us. You will work closely with our Development and Data teams and build tooling to ensure the Developers can move quickly.

• Work on ways to automate and improve development and release processes
• Automate highly scalable and resilient cloud operations that can be executed with no customer downtime
• Test and examine code written by others and analyze results
• Ensure that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats
• Identify technical problems and develop software updates and ‘fixes’
• Provision, administer, and maintain the AWS cloud platform
• Maintain our core Mama Money platform and ensure 99.9% uptime

• At least 5 years' experience with AWS
• Developer mindset
• Experience with Kubernetes / Docker / EKS
• Good understanding of networking topologies
• Experience with monitoring services like Prometheus/Grafana
• Scripting experience (Python / Bash / other)
• CI/CD exposure (Github Actions, GitLab)

• Languages: Java, JavaScript, Python
• Database: MariaDB
• AWS Services: EC2, S3, API Gateway, Cognito, RDS, SQS, ALB, Lambda, DynamoDB, EKS
• Automation: Terraform, Helm, Github Actions
• Tools: Jira, Confluence, Postman, Dbeaver, Git, ArgoCD
