Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a compassionate Child and Youth Support Worker to empower young people in Tembisa, Gauteng. The role blends on-site support with remote coordination, requiring strong communication and adaptability to diverse backgrounds.

You will collaborate with families and schools to implement personalized support plans, run group activities, and maintain informed records while upholding safeguarding standards.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in Social Work, Youth Development, Education or related field.
• Experience with children/youth in a support/care capacity.
• Knowledge of child development and youth challenges.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of child protection policies and procedures.
• Proficient with basic computer tasks for records/communication.
• Passion for empowering youth and driving positive change.
• Willingness to hybrid work (on-site and remote).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support and mentorship to children and youth in the community.
• Develop and implement individual support plans.
• Facilitate group activities and life-skills programs.
• Coordinate with families, schools and community services.
• Maintain confidential records of interactions and progress.
• Identify risks and apply safeguarding procedures.
• Participate in team meetings and professional development.
