Job summary

Placements24 in Gauteng is seeking a Youth Engagement Specialist to design and deliver engaging programs for local youth in the Tembisa area. You will work closely with schools, centers and families to create a safe, supportive space where young people can grow and explore potential.

The role requires hands-on community presence, mentoring youth, and coordinating activities with diverse partners. Flexibility to work evenings/weekends and a commitment to youth wellbeing are essential.

Qualifications

• A relevant diploma or degree in Social Sciences, Youth Work, Education, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience working directly with youth in a community or educational setting.
• Demonstrated understanding of youth development theories and engagement strategies.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and group facilitation skills.
• Experience in conflict resolution and positive behavior management.
• Willingness to undergo background checks.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, in Gauteng.
• Ability to work effectively in the Tembisa community.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and implement innovative youth programs and activities.
• Facilitate group sessions, workshops, and recreational activities for diverse age groups.
• Provide mentoring and guidance to young participants, fostering their personal and social growth.
• Collaborate with parents, guardians, schools, and other community stakeholders to ensure holistic support for youth.
• Identify and address the specific needs and challenges faced by young people in the Tembisa community.
• Organize and supervise youth outreach events and excursions.
• Maintain accurate records of participant engagement and program outcomes.
• Develop and manage program budgets and resources effectively.
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all youth.
• Stay updated on current trends and best practices in youth development and engagement.
