Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an enthusiastic Youth Development Officer to manage after-school programs in George, Western Cape. This part-time role focuses on creating a safe, engaging environment that supports young people's personal, social and educational growth.

You will collaborate with schools, parents and community stakeholders to deliver activities, track outcomes, and adapt offerings. The role offers a hybrid work model and opportunities for professional development in youth work.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Youth Work, Social Work, Education or related field preferred.
• Experience in youth work, program coordination, or facilitation.
• Strong understanding of child and adolescent development.
• Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple activities.
• First Aid certification is an advantage.
• Flexible hours including afternoons and some evenings/weekends.
• Genuine commitment to youth development in George, Western Cape.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage after-school programs for youth aged 6-18.
• Facilitate workshops on academics, life skills, arts, sports and recreation.
• Supervise and mentor program facilitators and volunteers.
• Ensure a safe, inclusive environment for all participants.
• Build relationships with participants, parents and guardians.
• Collaborate with schools and community organizations to coordinate offerings.
• Assess program effectiveness through feedback and outcomes.
• Manage logistics including scheduling, resources and materials.
• Maintain attendance records, incident reports and documentation.
• Act as a positive role model promoting healthy choices.
